Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?

I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.

At this point I do not trust ANYTHING they say. Simply because I always get a different answer. The truth is they haven't even looked at any of our applications, and every time I call they say give it a week, give it two weeks, and nothing. The advisor told me that I should here something by April 15! Well we are well past that date. And no one seems to know what the exact procedure is. I wish I could get my hands on the number for the actual nursing department and give someone there a call. No one responds to emails or voicemails. I am so worried that my application will get lost in this paper mess, and I won't get in. Either way I just want to know so that I could plan ahead.

omg!!! I am a stalker today! I am out to get a response, I called and complained and asked for a supervisor!! I complained on how my voicemails and calls go unanswered. We should all call and complain!! They promised me a call by the end of the day...if not I am going there tomorrow in person.

I have been reading this thread since it started. I will be applying to Nova for the January 2011 term. As of right now, I have a 3.71 GPA. Can you tell me more about Nova's scholarship with Baptist (that's is one of my major reasons for wanting to go to Nova or Barry). Thank you.

I am wondering about the same thing but I figured I would talk to some people from NSU if I got in. I have a 3.83 and am taking A&PII with sociology this summer. So if I get all A's my GPA can even get a little bit higher. The thing is, I applied for the Fall of 2010 and don't know if I should apply for the January 2011 term to try and get the scholarship. I'm so eager to get in that it would be such a dissapointment to wait an extra semester only to be rejected the Baptist scholarship! This did happen to a friend of mine but her gpa was at about a 3.5ish. I guess I'm kind of jumping the gun since I don't even know if I'm getting into the fall program but I'm still wonder ing.

Wow. I would hate for that to happen to me. Barry University has the same scholarship program with Baptist. You may want to try theirs.

Hm I didn't know that but I think Barry requires nutrition or biology which I haven't taken yet..

Hello everyone, so i checked my VIP page due to the fact that i received an email from the admissions office advising me that my MDC transcripts were in but it didnt reflect on the VIP page, so i gave them yesterday and went in right now to check it.. it still states that i am pending the MDC transcripts and now its telling that i need an FIU transcript.. Ive never gone to FIU its been MDC my entire college career.. . i am fuming right now... very mad. Then they told me to call back in an hour because all the counselors were busy with other students. I am calling within the next 45 mins and stalking them like i did the other day.... i dont trust them at all!!!! Where did they even get FIU from?? UGH i am cringing right now... i will drive up there if i have to... if its not one thing with these ppl its another... super disorganized... I bet a lot of ppl have gotten denied because they were not on top of it, because if i wouldve never looked at this VIP page and just relied on them imagine what wouldve happened. Now who knows how long they will take to review. GRRRRRR so mad!!! Just make sure all of you check and double check your things even if its right check the VIP page because look at what popped up on mine today... so mad

UPDATE: i applied in February and still haven't heard anything back from our dearest NSU. I decided to drop into the office of admissions today and TRY to see Denver(a.k.a. the head nursing counselor)..I lucked out! apparently they were having some "pre nursing presentation" with none other than Denver himself. There was one more girl in his office with me and he was just basically going over all the entrance requirements for the nursing program (stuff I already know)..i played dumb and pretended like I needed to hear all this stuff...as soon as I got a chance tho I told him I had already applied and needed his help in order to review some drama going on with my coursework and transcripts from both institutions which I've attended. He actually looked up my files..and I actually got to see on his computer all the documents that were in and all the paperwork thats been filed. As of now my application status still says: pending...PENDING!!! His exact words were: Wow your application has been in for a while now ..and they still haven't reviewed anything. You probably won't hear anything unitl MID JUNE (!!!!!!).....MID JUNE people. He was like: we are really backed up and theres tons of applications to review so just be patient. (!!!!) he put a note on my application in order to let the evaluator know about some drama going on with my transcript history but he just advised me to try and resolve everything asap...and to send in a new transcript asap...i asked him if my application had even been reviewed yet or looked at yet and he said NO....at this point NSU is totally backed up...It completely squashed my spirits. I'm so bummed out about how long this is all taking..but at least I know more or less where my application stands.

WOW lindalove... sounds like my situation....never getting any answers and you actually went in person... wow!!!! I cant believe that, well i could coming from NSU hopefully they start cracking down on these apps, its ridiculous how they make us wait and wait as if nothing. When most of us have been waiting forever already, its not fair at all.. I and all of us have done everything they have said, they need a transcript we turn it in,etc. Who knows when we will know. I am completely disappointed with NSU and how their process is going. It seems like they have no sense of priority. Lets try to keep positive as much as all of this brings us down... lets just try and hang in there. One day at a time. I just called 2 different counselors and of course they have yet to return my calls. UGHHHHHH frustrated!

anybody else gain any new info today? any updates? any acceptance or denial letters?? anything? the road seems longer and longer by the day..

Nothing for me either. I guess we are all in the same boat. I know this sounds very hard to hear and difficult for me to write but we have to be patient- we honestly have no choice. Remember, "Good things come to those who wait"- this is what has encouraged me to stay positive throughout this whole process. I understand the admission process has been challenging (to say the least) but all-in-all Nova is an exceptional school and any of us should be considered lucky to receive an invitation to their nursing program. We must also take into consideration that this is the first year they are "trying" new things and have had many changes among faculty and staff including the nursing committee- this could have an effect on the admission process. However, I am sure that with time all these issues will be resolved. I really hope we all receive an invitation to their nursing program soon or at least some information to alleviate the stress (for our peace of mind) :). As soon as any news comes my way I will share with all of you. In the meantime, Good luck and try to stay positive

Hi everyone I came across this website and I have found all of you guys' information super helpful!! I also just applied to NOVA for Fall 2010 and have been having some of the same problems some of you are experiencing. I have received a letter saying that my application is missing information and my VIP page shows all of the requirements with a check mark next to them so I'm really confused. My VIP page also says that my "application is missing items needed to make an admissions decision". I have spoken to the admissions office a couple of times, the last time being this past Monday and they told me to give them a couple of days to update their information because they see that they have received everything necessary with my application...but today is Friday and still nothing:( I have also emailed Denver a couple of times but no reply yet.............. I guess like some of you have said we have to stay on top of them. I'm glad i'm not the only one having trouble with NOVA :) If anyone has any suggestions for me I would really appreciate it thanks!!!!!

Its true that you do have to give them a couple of days because it took them almost a week to update mine at one point. Just keep calling and calling until you see it fixed, and voice to them that you are getting very upset and worried, i said the last time and they passed me through another counselor and i received a call the next morning... So just hang in there.

UPDATE: i went to NSU and saw Denver people!!! He does exist lol.. =0) He is very very nice and i saw his desk and i am not kidding when i tell you the man has STACKS of transcripts and letters, etc. However, he is the man to go to. I finally delivered my FIU transcripts along with the Dade one as well he said that he has called several students and they have yet to send information so NSU has extended their deadline for any pending classes or missing information unitl JUNE 1. Also whomever requested a transcript from Dade before May 3 then you have to resubmit another transcript because Dade did not update their records until that week. So if your VIP page still stated classes in progress then MDC sent the old one not the new ones with those classes completed. I luckily got Denver on the phone yesterday and had MDC comp me another one. So recheck to see if they have your updated grades because even though they post them online it doesnt mean their records are up to date yet.

Also, Denver advised me that the counselors are there to scan through your paperwork, upload the information and ensure that we meet the requirement before the nursing committee reviews them.. Once you have everything its out of their hands and up to the committee to decide, so he doesnt know what our status would be once he is done uploading our info. He is just there to make sure we are not missing any information before sending it up to THE BIG DOGS.. and that can take several weeks. He looked at my transcript and said that my repeats in another subject that NSU doesnt even require and one F i received in an elective if going to hurt me. THEY LOOK AT EVERYTHING he stated. I was bummed but he did tell me they do also look at the GPA so if you are good then they can look pass it.. if you are on the fence then they look at your recommendation letters and essay to see where u land, thats where those come in... but its solely based on GPA..The whole transcript they look at. I hope they can bypass mine all of that happened back in 2003 and 2004 when i didnt even know college worked lol i thought by dropping i was ok.

I know this message is long but i just wanted to give all of you some new information. I hope this helped anyone. Especially with the transcript thing. I wouldve never known. Also, Denver told me that this has been the biggest overflow in a long time of apps and they are trying to go through everyone by the end of June. Thats their goal. So all we have to do is hang in there... just ensure all of your info is in and status wise the counselors dont even know he even said they some give out dates just to get the students off their back.. so honestly we need to just wait... hope all of you will get good news... i hope so for myself especially with my repeats... YIKES... i hope they only look at my gpa lol... Have a great weekend everyone and patience is a virtue! Hope i helped.
