Hey guys,

I have been searching for an FNP or NP program that allows the completion of the theory courses first and the clinicals after. I see that SJCME had that program but they no longer offer it. Is their another program out there like that?

Thanks

I thought most were like that...basic stuff first that you build upon later. FNP is an NP program, btw.

Specializes in Adult Nurse Practitioner.

Most NP programs follow the MSN core curriculum.

Are you looking for a program that front loads all the classes and then has full time clinic after classes are done (like PA school)?

All the programs I know of run clinic concurrent with didactic.

SJCME use to allow you to finish all your FNP theory classes and then you started clinicals. Such as taking FNP I, II, & III first then taking FNP practicum I, II, & III after. Most NP programs have their clinical classes and theory completed concurrently. SJCME stopped this program as of July 2012.

Specializes in CEN, CFRN, PHRN, RCIS, EMT-P.

Chamberlain does that.

Yes a program like that! One that would allow me to focus on the theory courses and give me more time to find preceptors (also focusing only on clinical work).

Specializes in Neuroscience, Cardiac Nursing.

Pace University does that, if you are looking for a program that's not online.

Johns Hopkins does that. It is not online, but you can start as a CNS on-line, then change your focus before you start clinicals. Once you start clinicals, they are all on campus.

Try Purdue University - Calumet, University of Colorado (Denver), University of Colorado (Colorado Springs), South University, and St Louis University. You'd have to look at their Graduate Nursing Student Handbooks to see if its possible.

Umass-Boston has a post-master's NP program that may have what you are looking for as well.

University of Southern Indiana

Are you willing to move? University of South Florida in Tampa,Fl is front loaded with theory, then clinical for their FNP program.
