Hello all,

I wanted to start a topic about the University of Alabama dual DNP (FNP/pmhnp) program as I have not seen much information on it.

I have sent in my application for Spring 2025, if you are also applying please reach out and share your experience. If you have graduated from this program or another DNP specialty from UA please feel free to share some insight.

For reference:

I sent in my application on 3/14

I had 2 letters of recommendation sent in by 3/21

the third letter was sent in 3/31

Has anyone had any experience with the timelines for a decision?

I applied to both fall 2024 and Spring 2025. How was the virtual interview? Was it hard?

Oh nice which of the programs did you apply to?

it was very easy, 5 questions. There's a prompt and you have 30 secs to compose yourself and then the recording starts and you answer. One of the questions was a writing prompt you have 10 mins to answer.

I applied to their BSN-DNP Dual FNP/PMHNP.

Wow! There's a writing portion and you're given 10minutes only? That sounds scary. Were the questions very random or unrelated to our personal statement? I'm getting nervous about it because I applied last year to a different school and they had similar virtual interview but the questions were very random and unrelated to anything I've expected so I panicked and ended up failing it.

Don't panic, it was completely random. The writing prompt is just testing on are you able to articulate yourself well in written form. No big deal at all. I was pretty concise on my response and didn't feel the need to ramble on more as I'd be redundant. I will let you know what happens when they come to a decision.

best of luck and don't over think it!

Did you apply for Spring next year or fall of this year?

Spring 2025. I needed to take some time to mentally prepare myself for this journey. I am most nervous about securing preceptors/clinicals.

I heard they have lists of partnered clinical sites ready. What state do you live in right now? I live in Florida.

Oh wow really?

I live in North Carolina, but I have friends and family in Florida. I don't want to be left behind because of not finding a placement, so I'm willing to travel.

I emailed them for a current list of partnered clinical sites in Florida so I can see if I have to relocate closer to where the concentration is high — location wise. Maybe you can ask for a list too in Carolina area.
