Hello,

Hi all!

I am applying for UVic for Fall 2025. In the personal statement, it asks for the four pillars of primary care. Does anyone have insight on this? I can't find any information about this anywhere - all I see online is the five principles of primary care? What do you guys think?

Hi,

yes I did find it hard to find the exact 4 pillars they were referring too. But I stuck with the 4 I thought that were important out of the 5  on the CNA guidelines. I researched on various sites and chose the 4 I felt were more important. But you're right, many searches always showed 5.

Hey! I used this link to write my paper on the four pillars of primary care and utilized it as a reference. It cites the 2003 canadian health accord. I stated that that the four major pillars of primary health care were accessibility, public participation, health promotion, and intersectoral collaboration.

Specializes in neonatal, nursing research.

Hi folks, I just submitted my application. I have also applied to UBC's program. This is my first time applying as I just barely have the minimum amount of practice experience for this application cycle. NP has been a career goal of mine since I was in nursing school so I figured I'd give it a go and apply!

Good luck everyone :)

Specializes in Emergency.

I am also applying to UVIC NP. I'll be keeping up with this thread!

Specializes in pediatric critical care, PAR, community health.

Thanks for starting this thread! I am in the process of applying to UVic NP but hitting a road block as I do not have the Stats requirement. I am wondering if anywhere offers a 300 or 400 level Stats class that does not require a 100/200 level class as a prerequisite?

Soci 301- social statistics through Athabasca University meets the requirement for UVIC.

Specializes in Perinatal Registered Nurse.

If anyone is realllly late to the application game like me (Due Dec 1st!!), I have some intel on the 4 pillars from asking several people in the department at UVic. Check out this article and use their top four options. I was told if you picked a other pillars, just stay consistent with them in how they are used from the original articles and it should be fine.

Hi everyone,

I'm about to submit my application for the UVic NP Program but am a bit stuck on references. The website specifies two academic references if out of school for less than 5 years. I graduated 4 years ago and feel that my professional mentors can provide a more personalized reference. I have one reference from nursing school, but I'm wondering if a clinical nurse educator could be considered an academic reference for my second? I couldn't find the guidelines on this.

TIA!
