November/ December 2014 TEAS Exam Takers

Nursing Students TEAS

Published

Hello Nursing applicants, I wanted to start a thread for us nursing students who will have to take the the TEAS Exam soon. It doesn't matter what school your going to, or what type of nursing program you applied to. I thought maybe we could share study tips and help encourage each other and hopefully, we will all get the score that we need so that we can get accepted into the nursing school we want to attend. I need at least a minimum score of 71 percent to be competitive for acceptance in the RN program I applied to. I take my test next week November the 6th. I have been studying for about three weeks now. My study guides are the ATI study guide, Secrets to TEAS V Study guides. I also have the Mcgraw- Hill 5 test book. I also purchased the ATI Test and will take the first online practice exam this wednesday. Please share what your doing to prepare, how your dealing with the test anxiety, and if you already successfully taken it what did you do to get the score you wanted. Good luck everyone!

Cool. I have the manual and wanted to make sure I could use it and not have to get a ton of other guides with it. I will keep studying it.

Thank you so much!!!!

I take mine in Dec 2 i am very nervous i am using the ATI study manual and some online pratice test. Good luck to all

Good Luck TEAS Takers this week. Lets us know how you did and how you study for the Exam. I will let you all know if I got accepted to the nursing program I applied too. Congrats to all of you who did well and passed your exams. The ATI guide seems like the way to go. :)

Hey everyone!

Thought I'd also chime in since I know a lot of us seek out these forums for help/advice. I took the TEAS this past Wednesday and safe to say I'm really satisfied/relieved with my 86% overall score.

I've been studying on and off for the past couple of months and really taking the time to review my weaknesses. I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but like others, I highly recommend the ATI study guide and test assessments. If you are going to choose a study resource, this is the one folks. Let me tell you, it is worth every single penny and there weren't any surprises on the exam (besides that random science section of course, argh!)

I also used the McGraw Hill practice exams and found that they were sufficient to supplement with my studies. Math is one of my strongest subjects but unfortunately found myself scrambling towards the end to finish all of the problems before the clock winded down to zero. So basic math skills before test day is absolutely critical! (brush up on your percentages/proportions/basic algebra) Also, don't check your work as you're going through the problems--check it at the very end! THAT is how you'll run out of time too.

I wish the best of luck to you all and best wishes on all of your endeavors! :)

So I JUST registered to take the exam. I am a bit confused as it says, "This is for ________ college ONLY!" But all of the choices say that.... so I hope I'm "allowed" even though I don't belong to that college!!!

I'm freaking out. I think I'll go puke now. I have an extremely full "life" load, 2 kids, Lactation Consultant School, Chemistry 2..... I've already gone through ATI manual 1 time, took the online practice test and got a 58%.... still waiting to take the second online exam. Maybe I can knock that out tomorrow...

I'm taking the TEAS V this Tuesday and am so nervous, I got a 86% on the ATI practice test but I really hope to get a 90% on the real thing. It's hard to do the science portion when I haven't taken microbiology yet so that's the toughest thing for me. So far I have no complaints using the ATI study guide, it had mixed reviews but if they designed the test then I figured they would have a decent guide.

Hello To Everyone,

I will be taking the Teas Exam on December 6. 2014. And if I pass the exam I would be in the August 2015 class. What I would also like to know is there anyone out there who plans on attending or who has attended A.I. Prince Technical School? If so, what was your experience like attending there?

Specializes in Ambulatory and L&D.

My ATI manual w ill be here tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

ratlady I had a lot of stuff going on as well when I took my TEAS. Just try to review those areas your ATI report gives you. Anyone can take the test you will have to pay for your transcripts to go to your school. 62 is passing at my school. I only got a 66% but I am still competitive because I have 4.0 science and a 3.6 overall GPA. Good luck to you.

You just might get a 90% since you did so well on the practice exams. Good luck.

That is reassuring, because I just took the second practice test "cold" (meaning no studying recently) and I scored 62.8. Can you imagine how much more my score will rise when I go through the book a second time closer to the test?! I did poorly on math which was surprising, but I can blame it on not paying attention because I knew the answers I just didn't read the question correctly. I went from 76 math to 46 (whoops!) I did post another thread about it explaining it more. I am SO nervous.... I should start building my nursing CAS. I haven't started that yet.

ratlady, Yea I had to brush up on my basic math skills as well. It's funny because I was so worried about the science, but that was my highest score, 80%. I did worse on English followed by reading. I scored in the low 70's in Math. I think you will do fine once you get your book and study. You need to find out what you need to be competitive in your program.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. :inlove:
