November/ December 2014 TEAS Exam Takers

Published

Hello Nursing applicants, I wanted to start a thread for us nursing students who will have to take the the TEAS Exam soon. It doesn't matter what school your going to, or what type of nursing program you applied to. I thought maybe we could share study tips and help encourage each other and hopefully, we will all get the score that we need so that we can get accepted into the nursing school we want to attend. I need at least a minimum score of 71 percent to be competitive for acceptance in the RN program I applied to. I take my test next week November the 6th. I have been studying for about three weeks now. My study guides are the ATI study guide, Secrets to TEAS V Study guides. I also have the Mcgraw- Hill 5 test book. I also purchased the ATI Test and will take the first online practice exam this wednesday. Please share what your doing to prepare, how your dealing with the test anxiety, and if you already successfully taken it what did you do to get the score you wanted. Good luck everyone!

I have heard a lot of good things about the ATI book, but I found it not an easy read. That's why I purchased the secrets to teas V book. I have spent most of my time in that guide and only used the the ATI book very little. I am hoping that will not hurt me. I will know when I do my first online practice exam. How do you guys feel about the ATI study guide?

Hello! I can't make a thread so I was wondering if someone could answer this. I got this email.

Hi I think I will be taking it December 20th...I purchased the ati study guide but have not studied yet. Which schools do you plan on applying to?

Hey! I was supposed to take it this Thursday but completely chickened out and rescheduled for the January appointment. :( From what I'm hearing from all my friends who already took and are in nursing school, I'll thank myself later. I cant seem to convince myself to buckle down and just STUDY! So far I've fiddled around in the McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exam book and have glanced (and I mean GLANCED) at *scrambles around room for book* The Princeton Review Cracking the Nursing School Entrance Exam book. I was going to do the whole ATI thing but they wanted too much for that! And my friends that do have it say that it wasn't worth the money. So... hope that doesn't come back to bite me in the behind later. And from what I'm seeing all over the internet and the practice test I have taken it seems like very basic stuff. Not sure though. But good luck on your exams! And keep us posted on how it goes. Also Mometrix also has a TON of free videos to help you prepare for the TEAS. I watch that... in between looking at youtube videos.

Nikki1207 I applied to Riverside City College.

OhWow, thanks. I like momatrix and the secret to teas book. I glance at the ATI book so we will see.

Hey everyone!

I took the TEAS exam in August and i cannot stress it enough that the ATI study manual is exactly like the actual test. Study of that manual. Also, for those who are weak in math like I was, please watch KESHAWNI PREP on youtube. This guy is amazing. He will show you shortcuts to math problems that will help you solve them in half the time the book teaches you how to solve them! Worked for me! Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the tip on using the ATI guide. I have used it some. I have heard different people say different things about it, such as some said swear by it and others said it did not help at all. Keshwni is so funny I loved watching his videos "Let him pop two" pills had me LMBO.

I plan on taking the exam in Nov. & have been studying for the past 2 months. I'm using the ATI Manual, McGraw Hill's Practice Tests, and plan on purchasing both of the ATI practice exams. Apparently the ATI practice exams are greatly recommended and people say if you do well on these, you'll do even better on the actual exam. During these few months, I've been using this post as a guide on what to study in the manual, and from its reviews, made many successful. https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/how-i-passed-804222.html

Good luck to everyone!!

For the ATI online practice exams, can you repeat the or are they one time only???? I was going to take the HESI but I think I will cancel the HESI and stick with TEAS since only one school takes HESI or TEAS but every other school wants the TEAS exam only.

Sorry for the typo I mean them not the.
