I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Well.....tonight I've been answering the questions in the 'Management & Leadership' section of my "NCLEX-RN Questions & Answers Made Incredibly Easy" book, next I'll do the 'Ethical & Legal Issues' section to help myself prepare for the first test next Wednesday.
It's neat to be able to put information you learned into answering a question correctly, instead of just guessing at it.....hahaha
Hope everyone is doing ok.

Thanks to all for prayers!!!!!! "Lump in the throat" was a cystic mass on my thyroid that could have been caused by STRESS or even a sinus/other infection. It has gone down in size and doesn't bother me - but I need to watch it to make sure it doesn't grow again:wink2: :wink2: G.A.P. (God Answers Prayer)
Had Vital Sign checkoffs today and got to wear my full nurse attire !! We felt so official!!!!!!!! Checkoffs were nerve-racking, but successful - made an "A":smiley_aa .
Talked to lecture teacher today in the hallway. She said the test blueprint is the way to go for this test!!! I'm trying to incorporate the objectives from syllabus as well to cover myself - can you say OVERKILL!!!!! That "Type A" in me just won't leave as much as I try to make it
Allison/Face - thanks for all your input and encouragement. We are all here for each other - almost like a marriage - in good times and in bad:icon_hug:
HEY FUN - when are your checkoffs?
Man, they got ya'll using Meds Pub in TX too? We are using it here in TN.DreamBelieveSucceed,Along with the blueprint I began to study the objectives in the syllabus. They are a great guideline although they don't give you everything you need to know. They just narrow your focus which is really all that is needed. The blueprint will be exactly what you want to follow for most of the tests. That was all some people went by sometimes. Do you have that book Fundamentals Success by Patricia Nugent and Barbara Vitale? That book is a GREAT reference! It gives you rationales for every answer to really help you understand why an answer is what it is which helps me a lot. Using MedsPub helped me out tremendously as well. They say you should do 200 practice questions for each test and I really feel like that is good advice. It gets you in the mode of thinking for those nursing questions.
I am in 2nd semester at El Centro. I think we have the same lecture instructor, Branscome. I heard the lecture instructor that we had last semester isn't doing lecture anymore....
That 1st test is the most frightening one but the blueprint will be a great guide. The syllabus is good for directing you but just on a very general level whereas the blueprints are more specific.
This is a great place to visit because we all are here to support you and each other. Lean on us because that's what we're all here for.
Yeah, it is good, when you can get it to work. Word to the wise. Don't use it on dial up!
Today in my Statistics class I discovered that the girl that sits behind me is a Spring 2006 EC new grad RN. She said that her class started with 60 and she only graduated with 10 from her original class - the other 50 failed, dropped out, or had to repeat semesters. She also said that once you get to the end and take the NCLEX that it's really easy since EC / NL over prepares you. She will be starting an ER internship at Baylor in January. She also told me that if I get accepted that she will give me a bunch of stuff she used in nursing school that she doesn't need now!
Wow! That's cool! :)
It's sad to know that so many can't make it through, but obviously some do. It is possible!!!!

FUN - Did you have class today? What on earth are you doing posting to this at 5:30 a.m.?!?!?!?!?!?!? lol Is that blueprint helping you? Any good study skills you are learning that is helping you retain all this reading???
I can relate to spaghetti fingers - we were using BP attached to the wall and it broke. Then instructor went and got one with the "dial" reading. Wellllll, all this threw off my concentration and I pumped up the cuff and couldn't figure out why I wasn't hearing anything. DUH! I forgot to put the stethoscope on the brachial pulse:roll !!! My classmate "patient" and I just laughed and I treated her as I would if it truly happened - I laughed and said, "Well I guess it works better when I put the stethoscope in the right place!!!" I deflated the cuff, waited a few seconds and asked her if her arm felt OK. Then I told her I needed to do it one more time. Needless to say we had a good laugh in the hallway afterwards - and I bet I NEVER do that again!!!!!!!!!

Leette,
I am keeping you in my prayers. I do know that God wouldn't bring you this far without a hand to guide you through so I am confident you will succeed.
Please keep us updated if you can.
