North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!
Hey guys - sorry I fell off the earth for a while!! lol. But for those of you who know me I am prone to that once in a while!!! lol I've been to 6-flags, water parks, and having fun with my kids!!!! woohooooo!!!!!! Even rode the Titan for the first time ever - not bad at age 42!!!!!!! lol. It is amazing what being finished with school and passing the boards will do for you!!! lol FUN - congrats!!!!!!!!!! Sorry you have had the problem with your name showing up. I had a couple friends take their test today and they thought it was hard like I did!! Mysterious - you will do great!!! When do you test (or have you already)? You did really well in school so you can pass the NCLEX too!!!!!! Even when you sit down and those questions keep coming at you and getting harder you keep telling yourself you can do it - because you CAN!!!! Keep us all posted!!

After 25 questions I began to think that if the test went past 75 questions I would hang myself right there in that cubicle!!! Rely on what you have been taught! After reviewing, I now know I got 5 questions right!! woohoo!!!!! Hopefully that will be enough to pass! lol. You'll do good tomorrow Fun!! I know you will!!!

North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!
OMG - what a test!!!!!!!!! Got tons of SATA in my 75 questions. I know for sure I got 1 question right. The rest of them - I have no idea!!!! Got there at 7:30 to check in and put my stuff in the locker. Went into the testing room at about 7:40 and began the computer tutorial of the program and the sample problems. Started the actual test questions around 8:00 or maybe a little before that. Left the building at 9:40 after 75 questions. All I can say is I have to have passed!!!! THere is no way I could imagine going through that test again. Now I know why El Hell Hole is so hard!!! I can't imagine taking the boards without having such difficult tests throughout school. FUN - do good tomorrow!! I'll be praying for you. Let us all know how it goes. Where do you take yours and is it at 8 a.m.? :yeah: WOOOHOOOO I AM DONE!!!! :chuckle :yeah: AND I AM DELIRIOUS!!!!!!! :chuckle

Called the BON a few minutes ago - they don't have our stuff from El Hell Hole yet!! Imagine that! lol. Glad you guys are studying - I'm not. Shame on me!! I guess I'll start doing questions sometime soon. After that dreadful HESI my brain was/is fried and I needed a break. Who should we call at the school to see when they "sent" (make them think we believe they have already sent it in) our paperwork?

Amen, Mysterious One!!! Unbelievable that our average was a 76.?? after some of people got 4 points . Actually, our grades were out there for a short time and now they are gone. Now there is something that says "Technical Survey" (I think) instead of "Final". I wonder if that "Survey" will take the place of our final!! lol But, as you said, Thank God it is OVER!!! But I would like to have a review over the final. I'm still curious about what I missed. Good luck all you guys on your finals - especially you 4th semesters!!!

UTA / TCC / DCCCD Pre-req's
My recommendation as an El Centro Nursing program student - don't go there!! Maybe all nursing programs are the same as El Centro - with many incompetent and/or verbally abusive clinical teachers who yell at you and berate you in front of patients and their visitors; lecture tests that are worded so tricky the only possible explaination is "weed out" (but many times they weed out potentially awesome clinical nurses who happen to have test anxiety - why do they think a good test taker will make a good clinical nurse - I have some students in my class that score high on lecture tests but can't even take an accurate blood pressure!). Granted El Centro does have an exceptionally high NCLEX pass rate (we heard the Spring 07 graduates had 100% pass rate). But I would be curious to know the school's pass/fail/drop rate(s) for each semester or the statistics of how many people actually start 1st semester and make it through all four semesters consecutively without dropping out or failing and having to be readmitted. Those are some things to consider when adding up the cost of your education. If you fail and have to be readmitted there are other costs involved - such as computerized/online tutorials - in addition to the costs of retaking the classes. My 1st semester we only had maybe 5-10 people (out of 60) who did not continue to 2nd semester (whether they had to drop for personal reasons or they failed). However, the class behind us lost 1/4-1/2 of their students by the end of the 1st semester. Anyway, whatever you decide, I wish you all the best. Nursing school is hard - harder than I ever dreamed it would be. But you can accomplish anything - no matter how difficult - if you want it bad enough and are willing to work hard for it!!

I am amazed - the same type drama at ECC for 2nd semester too!!!! After our final several people needed a few extra points - one even needed 5 or 6 points to pass. Guess what, it seems that everyone got enough points to pass!!! I've heard the school is up for re-accreditation - I'm sure it wouldn't look very good if they had so many people failing; however, 1st semester lost alot of people compared to our class last semester!!! Not sure what is happening!!!! I'm on the boat with FUN - I want to know what types of other books everyone bought that helped them with 3rd semester. I'd also like the reading list/schedule if anyone has it. Thanks bunches!!

North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!
I'm with you FUN - IT IS TIME TO PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because regardless of our scores we are going to 3rd semester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm on my way to a friend's house to have some serious margaritas, wine coolers, beer and whatever else we can find!!!!!!!!!! Turned in my "choices" today and will need to PRAY really hard to get my 1st choice. Due to the times on a couple of them, even though I wanted to put them higher up on my list, I had to put them last because of conflicting schedules. Which meant I had to put a few others that I wanted to totally stay away from as my 2nd and 3rd choices. I'll be a nervous wreck on June 12th until the schedules are posted. Then I may be a nervous wreck for the rest of the summer depending on the schedule I get!!!! Congrats everyone on completion of the HESI!!!!!! LET'S PARTY :monkeydance: :monkeydance:

North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!
Congrats Fun!!!!!!!! Doesn't it feel good to be finished - well for the most part! I know I will be studying for the HESI too but I'm not quite as stressed about that one! I don't know anything about the instructors on your list - I only know the hospitals. I've always liked Baylor and I've heard GREAT things about Methodist - I actually wished Methodist was on our list because that is the one that I would probably choose. Then again, we also have to consider the teachers!!! Here is our list: Stanley - Presby Beecham - Parkland Edson - St. Paul Breed - Charlton Methodist Thomas - Parkland (Saturdays!!) Our St. Paul clinical is 2:45 - 11:15 but we have the next day off and then we have lecture; however, I guess we would have to pick our patient on Sundays!

El Centro/ Northlake-----Spring 07
Hey guys - I'm going into 3rd semester and wanted to give info on 2nd semester stuff! To be real honest I don't think you can go wrong with anybody you pick for clinicals. In the one choice you go to 3 different hospitals - Med City for Pedi with Trammell, Parkland for L&D and nursery with Pritchett, and Presby with Isa for Med/Surg. If you are OK with moving around and don't need consistency to be comfortable then I've heard it is a great rotation - you get to see different places and get a feel of where you like. Others went to Plano and really loved it and said it was a wonderful hospital with great staff. I really enjoyed Parkland - the teacher, the experience, and the staff. Lots to see and do at Parkland - especially in L&D and nursery!! Trust me - if you have had Mesq. or TSH this semester - don't be discouraged and think that nurses at all hospitals are so mean and rude! Parkland and Medical City had AWESOME nurses that enjoy teaching new nurses anything and everything. Enjoy your summer and good luck with your selections!
