Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
Mansfield ISD is like that, but it proves to be a PIA in the AM!
My 10th grader's school starts at 7:15, but the 3rd grader doesn't have to be there until 8:00.
So, for working parents, it's a pain, but the bus system is really good here. I'd say 80% ride the bus. .....Then only thing is, how old is old enough to stand and wait for the bus......?????????????????????????????????????
I'm dropping my 3rd grader off at her friend's house every morning at 6:30, then taking my 10th grader to her high school and heading to Irving.
Clinical day, the older one will have to either ride the bus at 6:30, or get a ride, and I'll take the other one earlier to her friend's house.
I liked it better when my hubby didn't work outside, and set his own hours.
GTChick,
I see that you will be taking Micro. this Fall at Mt. View. Who is the professor for your class?
Amy
As far as I know, NO ONE at NLC knew about it. And it wasn't mentioned at the orientation either. Not sure when they planned on telling us. Also, did you get an email yesterday about another meeting they are doing? I didn't get it, but people were saying it went out. I'm not sure what's going on. ?!The Math class was great and well worth it. I got a 100 on the test. :)
Oh, and I hear you on the traffic. Here's what my first day looks like:
8:00-1:30 Skills Lab @ NLC
1:30-4:30 Seminar @ ELC
5:00-7:00 Microbiology @ MVC
YIKES!
Spill & Jaxia,
I have an appilication question that I hope one of you might have the answer to. It seems like every time I have a question it's on a weekend when I can't call the Health Occupations Office and get an answer! On page 16 of the application, on #9, on the last check off it says "Copies of any request for course substitution forms (for evaulated transferred courses) or 5-year waiver forms which have been granted to the student". Do either of you know what the "request for course substitition forms" are or where we get them???? Wouldn't you know, I just noticed this last night when I was about to stick everything in the envelope!

My mom bought me a rolling luggage/computer bag. So....I'll probably bring my laptop, but if I decide to bring my books, I won't break my back anyway.
So, young'ns, this old 32 y.o. will run you over with my rolling luggage if you get in my way.
It has a retractable handle, a separate hand held or shoulder strap. So, I can roll it, carry it like a brief case, or carry it like a purse. (Got it from Office Depot.)
I better last all four semesters & pass the NCLEX. If not, I better go straight to get a bachelor degree in something else without letting my family know. :chuckle
I still need to get at notebook/binder to hold papers, etc.
KATIE......
*Would a 3-inch binder be better????? (Did you know they sell 5-inch binders at Office Depot? hahahha I don't remember ever seeing a 5-inch binder before.)
*Did you have your syllabus and handbook in your 2-inch binder, or did you keep that separate? (I was thinking about having those in their own floppy folder.)

You are sooooo Funnie. :)
I had most of my papers in one binder. The handbook, the skills lab articles, handsouts, my notes. The syllabus wasn't even there. I think a 3 inch binder would be better if you have enough space in your brand new "will run you over with my rolling luggage if you get in my way" bag. :chuckle

Thanks for all of your help! (Everyone of ya'll!)
OK....here's another question. What all do we need to bring on skills lab days?

Thank you, thank you!!!
I hope he gets in! And good luck to other applicants out there!
Hi RxGracie, and welcome to All Nurses.com. :)For Spring '06, it was 4.0 on the pre-reqs, 6 credits of support courses completed with a GPA of 2.5 was the lowest accepted.
For Fall '06, the lowest was a 3.77 on the pre-reqs, 13 credits of support courses completed with a GPA of 3.77 was the lowest accepted.
So really, yes he does have a chance, but it all depends on who applies with him.
Good luck to him. :)
I don't mean to jump into your conversation, but I just wanted to add a little comment.
I took Microbiology with Ms. Silva, and she's great!!!
She can be little tough on lab stuff, but you'll like her!
Oh... the "unknown" part of the lab is the hardest!
My teacher is M. Silva. Are you taking it there, too? If not, do you want to take it with me?

For afterschool care, what is the possibilty that you could hire a college or high school student for awhile? Or is there some way for your SO (or another relative) to go in to work earlier and come home earlier on certain days? Does the afterschool program have pay by the day care available or do you have to pay for the entire week? Is there a nearby daycare center that does drop in care?
That is another rule - DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP! Maybe your neighbor or friend would LOVE to watch them everyday, maybe she could use a little extra cash - you won't know until you ask!
ETA: I never understood why they didnt have the older schools let out first (High school gets out before middle and middle before elementary school) so that the older kids can watch the younger kids after school - that was an issue for me at the time too and I know it would help a lot of families!
