North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!

Published

Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.
I don't mind it at all...I'm just thinking about the traffic going home.

I think I will take a DART red line train. There is a stop close to EC.

Uh....no. I wasn't aware of it....not that I remember, that is. :uhoh3: I guess I would have found out about it on the 26th!?!??! Did they mention this at all at orientation?

And...Why would they put a meeting ending at 4:30 at EL Centro?

Thanks for letting met know!

How'd your math class/test go?

As far as I know, NO ONE at NLC knew about it. And it wasn't mentioned at the orientation either. Not sure when they planned on telling us. Also, did you get an email yesterday about another meeting they are doing? I didn't get it, but people were saying it went out. I'm not sure what's going on. ?!

The Math class was great and well worth it. I got a 100 on the test. :)

Oh, and I hear you on the traffic. Here's what my first day looks like:

8:00-1:30 Skills Lab @ NLC

1:30-4:30 Seminar @ ELC

5:00-7:00 Microbiology @ MVC

YIKES!

Specializes in Operating Room.

No, I didn't get an e-mail either. Well wait...I did get one from the NLC SNA (Student Nurse Association) about a them holding a get-together at NLC, Friday, August 25th at 1 PM. (Pizza provided, bring $ for the drink machine.) :chuckle

That's for everyone, members or not...they will have other students already in the program there to answer any questions we may have. I'm planning on going...as of right now, that is. :D I figure it will be a last-minute-look-at-the-board time.

(If that's not the e-mail, then no, I didn't get it.) ;)

Well, since we have clinical together, our skills lab is the same, seminar the same, but after that....I'm, driving back to Arlington. I'll waive at ya as I pass MVC. :chuckle

J/K I wish you the best of luck....I've heard MVC's Micro class is very well taught, so that should be comforting. :icon_hug:

I didn't know about this. But I may go, too.

Cool ;) I'll see ya there, if I go. I plan on it, but you never know.

I didn't get an e-mail about the meeting/seminar on the first day; however, I did get the information off of ecampus before they shut it down to move information from the servers. I have heard from a few people (not sure if maybe they see their cups 1/2 empty - negative attitude not brain function ) that this somewhat last minute seminar/meeting thing happens frequently while in school.

Katie - I take the blue line from downtown Garland, but the red line train also drops off in the same downtown Dallas area location as mine - which is the West End station (1 block from EC). Although it takes me 1 hour to drive to the Garland station, board the train, choo-choo downtown; I prefer the extra 20 minutes so that I don't have to fight traffic. My small-town Rowlett traffic is bad enough!!

So it looks like we'll all be together for this wonderful little seminar. I'd love to meet you all.

Regarding the math class/test - has anyone really studied much yet prior to the class? My class is next Friday and I have memorized the abbrevs and some of the conversions. Should I buckle down and really learn this stuff prior to the class?????

Specializes in Operating Room.

I have studied off and on, but I'm scared my mind will go blank next Saturday!

Well....most of you know what I look like, so look for me and say hi. :)

Katie, I told my daughter she has to find a ride Friday, or ride the bus. So, I'm planning on going to the NSA's get-together.

Our page on ecampus isn't set up yet. :(

KATIE......How many people just bring a laptop with their evolve books loaded? I got a new laptop & I'm thinking about saving my back. :)

I'd bring stuff to actually take notes so I wouldn't be clicking on the keyboard the whole time, but I would use my laptop to view the books.

For that matter, what books did you bring with you to lecture?

I'm so jealous.

Short, sweet, and to the point...well...maybe not so sweet, but short and to the point at least. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

How I see it is that if you get in for Spring '07, January is just around the corner. :balloons:

Yes, that's the email I was talking about. I still haven't gotten it, though!

As for the math class... it's REALLY easy. The teacher is awesome and she has a 99% pass rate on her classes, so no reason to worry. :)

I would be embarrassed! Not that anyone else should be embarrassed if THEY don't pass, but a 99% pass rate...I sure hope I'm not the 1%!!!!

Hmmmmm...did you write your e-mail address on the sheet of paper that was sent around during orientation? I put my nursingjourney email on that, and that's what account they sent it to.

(I had a different one on my application.)

Well, with them working on the ecampus servers, the nursing class isn't showing up anymore. I don't like that at all. lol

I had to go to econnect...just to make sure that I'm still enrolled!!!

It's all good. haha
