Published

Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

Kendra,

Congrats on the A in Micro.! :balloons: I know you're freaking out and all but don't forget to just breathe. To me, it seems somewhat better knowing that all us here are in the same boat. WE CAN ALL DO THIS - just remember that.

Amy

Hey All!

Just a little update.....I made an 'A' in Micro! I am so excited, I have kept my 4.0 average! On the down side.....as of 11:08 this morning, I have approximately 16 hours of working at my job left :uhoh21: . It has been a little stressful. Up until last Thursday, no one in my company knew who was going to replace me. Well.....Thursday afternoon an email came in from corporate in Chicago with an employee rearrangement chart! Well...to begin with my name was no where on the chart (not that I care), but get this........the person who is replacing me is the man who hired me! Can you say slap in the face demotion! Yesterday I had to "train" him on some of the stuff I do......very weird. Anyway, I have been freaking out with the last paycheck/short timers disease and scared to death about nursing school. Ecampus intimidates me to no end! I can't even begin to make heads or tails of it. I guess I will see some of you in two weeks.

Kendra

P.S. No luck on switching to VA. Oh well....Mesquite is 2 days a week, hopefully I will learn more, experience more than in one 12 hour day.

Spill,

Welcome to our little group. I am also applying for Spring 2007 semester. My first choice is NL since I already live in Irving.

Amy

Jaxia,

YAHH! I'm glad you will be taking Micro. next summer with me. :icon_hug: I am also glad that you are applying for Spring 2007. I really did think after I read that post that you had decided to wait.

Amy

Thanks for the info! Right now I am signed up for A&P II, Texas Govt, US Govt, Nutrition and Stats for the fall. I might switch out the Govt and pick up Chemistry, but I've decided to wait on Micro until next summer so I can have a study partner in Amy :D

I have a question for those of you who are working part time during the RN program. I know I will have to quit my full time job in Jan. (pending acceptance of course). I do plan on working part time but I am not sure how much to work with school. I guess I am kind of lucky since I have no life - I have no kids and no husband to take up my time. I was thinking maybe 2 days a week...preferably weekends. I need input from you guys who are already in the program and know what kind of study time is required, etc. Thanks in advance.

Amy

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

I'm glad, too :)

I was trying to get my application packet together today, and my printer died! So, now I have to make a trip to Best Buy to take care of that. It always seems like it is one thing or another, doesn't it? :) I'm so nervous that I'm going to do something stupid on my app and it will wind up getting tossed out. Yikes!

Good luck on the job, Amy. Are you going to try to get a hopsital job, like unit sec?

Specializes in Med/Surg/Tele.

thanks jaxia & amyindallas for the welcome! i'm a nervous wreck too. i have filled out and tossed the application for spring 07 (repeat five more times) before i finally felt like my handwriting looked its best (can we say over obsessive?) i just want everything to be just right.

it's been a long hard road getting to just applying, getting all those expensive shots, the dr. visit, all the pre reqs, then re taking pre reqs to get better grades, practicing for the net, running to this campus, getting this form, going here, going there....argghhhh :banghead: i hope all this sweat and tears pay off soon! i'll cross my fingers for you two as well! good luck!

Jaxia,

I am planning on taking the Pharmacy tech exam in November. If I pass, then I will get a part time job doing that. If I don't pass then I will just have to find something else I can do part time. Are you planning on working part time? If so, what will you be doing?

5 times? Lol -- I only have 3 copies, so I hope the 3rd time is a charm :D

I'm thinking about working part time...I just haven't decided yet. If I work in the IT field, I can make more money, but there is a reason I got out of it. Working in a hospital, I can start getting a feel for things...

About the application -- What is considered an "official" NET score sheet? The one they gave me the day of the test is stamped, but it says 'unofficial.' Anyone know?

BTW -- If anyone else has classes from outside DCCCD: A printoff of the course description from the website is enough as long as the course numbers/names match.

Specializes in Operating Room.

The one they gave you that says unofficial, is the official one. lol

Doesn't make sense, but I guess it's not official until the nursing dept double checks with the testing center, if questioned.

As for my application...I think I did my application 3 times. I kept making a mistake on my writing, and didn't want scratch-outs or white-outs on it. lol :D
