Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

So Amy - do you have your packet together yet? I'm trying. I was in a car accident and wound up dropping my A&P II class, so I will have to take it this fall, or just take it in the Spring. I'm not sure what I am going to do now.

Would I be crazy to take A&P II and Micro during the fall? Are those two classes best to take on their own?

Are you trying to get into the program in the spring? If so, you could take Micro this fall and then A&P II during the summer next year. Personally, I wouldn't take them together, but hey what do I know? I'm the dumb dumb taking Micro with nuring this fall. LOL ;)

i took them together, if you are dilligent, you can do it. Also , you will be glad to have them out of the way , before you start the nursingprogramm.

I will start end of this month , and from what i see, i couldn't imagine , having to still take any of my supportclasses with the nursingprogramm. Also if they offer you newbies to do a Skills class (HPRS) before the start of the programm, go ahead and jump in. (This is the pilotprogramm they did this time around). I can see how this can be beneficial. The one's that did not choose to do so , have to show up 4 times a week, where we that did it , only 3 times, and with all the reading and preparing you have to do, that sounds so much better. Also we get to start clinicals aready after the 2 week.

Yes, I am trying to get into the program for the Spring. If I take Micro this fall, then they would make me take A&P II during the Spring, so I need to do it in the other order if I decide to split them up.

mysterious -- Were you taking any other classes at the same time, or just those two?

yes I also took Psych: human dev. with them. I took my speech in a winter mester and my humanities in a may mester, both of which were really easy, so you might be able to add those too, in a regular semester. Just check with other students on how certain instructors are in those fields, there are some easier then other,of course. What do you have left to take and which college you in . I was mostly in Cedar Valley, ecxept Humanities , i took at El Centro.

For the ADN program, I only need A&P II and Micro. I already have all the others. I'm thinking about getting some of my BSN pre-reqs out of the way like Govt, Statistics, Nutrition or Chem.

they all sounds like extensive classes to take with Micro and A&P 2, maybe Govt. I don't know, just know that MIcro and A&P are both pretty extensive, scince they both have labs.

Nutrition and Stats online, at least my classes, were not hard. (Every instructor is different....)

I'm not sure which one I would wanted to take with A&P II or Micro though. Probably A&P II with one or the other.

I just didn't enjoy MicroSUX at all. I hope I never have to take that class again. It just wasn't very interesting to me. (I did like the lab part though.) lol

Yes, I have got all my stuff together. I just need to make copies of everything and stick the thing in the mail. I'm sorry to hear that you were in a car accident. How are you doing? Are you ok? About your situation: You better get your application together and send it off - you still have nearly 3 weeks to get it in! Remember, after this application period ends they are changing the test from NET to something else. Who knows what else they might change for the next application period. You better at least try NOW! I could have just kicked myself because I didn't apply last semester - I would have gotten in. Alot of people apply with the bear minimum. You could easily take A&P 2 this fall and then take Micro. next summer. I have all support classes except Micro. and Developmental Psych completed. I was planning on CLEP'ing the Developmental Psych. this summer but neither RN-BSN program I am considering will accept it. I am taking Developmental Psych. this fall along with Stats (doing stuff toward RN-BSN) and I will be taking Micro. next summer. Please, please, please apply! I was hoping that I would "know" at least 1 person in my program (YOU). Heck, we could even take Micro. next summer together.

Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression -- I'm def going to apply! :) I'm just trying to figure out what I am going to do this fall. My original plan was to work, but now I'm not sure if I want to get out of the school groove. So, I think I will take some of the RN-BSN bridge classes. But, that messes me up for loans, so it's a gamble as to which is really better for me. I'm really frustrated right now that it takes so many hours to get a ADN, but that they have the silly 99 hour cap for hours when it comes to financial aid. It puts a lot of pressure on people to accept contracts they might not want if they don't have a lot of money saved up. I had money saved up, but it was only enough to get me through the pre-reqs. Heh, sorry for the rant, it is just really irritating me today!

I'm still trying to get my stuff together, and then I plan to hand deliver it to the school. I'm not taking any chances with the postal system on something so important!!

OMG! Fun, are you going crazy with nerves and excitement yet? I wonder how people will live with me during the few weeks leading up to me starting the nursing program, lol :) It's been so cool to read about the stuff you've had to go through -- Thanks for the inspiration!
