Awww, I've lived and worked in downtown. It just makes me nervous to leave class at 10p and walk through dark streets and that one parking garage near campus where the stairway always smells like urine...it really gives me the creeps!

Yeah- at night downtown is C-R-E-E-P-Y. During the day, though, I don't feel threatened. In nursing school at El Centro you won't ever be leaving at 10pm. We are supposed to be getting our own building in the West End. They seem really excited about all of the room and new things we will have. They say my class won't see it until our last semester- MAYBE. I am really excited to see what will be over there. The WHOLE building just for the health classes instead of the one floor like we have now lol

Leaving any class at 10pm creeps me out. (Especially my late night Health professional math class I took back in '91, which was held under the emergency room parking garage at Parkland Hospital.)

That was freaky...going down the elevators, walking down past the empty laundry rooms, down a long hallway...... Yep, didn't like it one bit. :chuckle

Oh my gosh, Fun!! WOAH! That would even creep me out!

A whole building? Wow, that would be pretty sweet! I hope they do something about the parking situation...

Are most of the nursing classes during the day? By the time I start the program, I plan to have all of my support classes out of the way, so I will just be looking at the specific nursing classes. I was afraid they might schedule the classes at night because the teachers had day jobs or something...

Yes, a whole building! I am excited about it even if I don't ever get to see it. I am happy that future EC nursing students will get that priveledge. The building is right above the Corner Bakery in the West End. It's just basically right across the street from EC. That paying for parking thing is horrible and I hope they can take care of that problem! They haven't mentioned anything yet.....

Right now all of the nursing classes are during the day. I don't know if they will change but they haven't changed in a while. The only late night you might have would be your hospital rotations and that may only go until 7pm. It's never really late. I wish they would have night courses so that I could work more in my day job but right now they don't.

So they finally got the building all straightened out? COOL! That is wonderful news for future nursing students. It will make the nursing and other allied health programs even more attractive. :lol2:

I don't think they will ever gove EC students free parking though. Parking lots downtown are BIG business and DCCCD would loose to much money on it. A discount in a secure lot close by would be nice.

Well, I guess we cannot have everything, lol. Parking is big business, and I doubt they could find parking that would cover everyone. I like that they arranged something with Dart, and I am sure that works for some people. But, for me, it is just not the best answer.

When I took HPRS courses, we were all crammed into a small room, and the Pharm teacher was always running around looking for a computer. I bet the teachers will be happier with a new building, too.

El Centro will never really be attractive to me. :chuckle I definitely like the idea of a satellite campus.

....And, thank goodness it's NLC now! :balloons:

Yep, I've attended classes at EC, CV, NL and visited Richland and Mountain View.

I really like NL. That Library is sweet! I miss the Chidren's section though.

There is a big EC sign on that building close to the West End Station, isn't there?

They might be able to accept more people to the nursing program when they open. (Provided there will be enough instructors.)

I never went in the library when it was a city library. So, the first time I went in there it was mostly empty! Hopefully, they've bought more books by now.

I've actually attended NL, & MV. EC was only at Parkland, and CV & Richland were both 100% online courses. :chuckle

It sounds like we have all be all over the place! I have been to NL and CVC, Tarrant county northeast and northwest and UTA. My husband is an instructor at CVC in the accounting department. I guess we will be using the NL library quite a bit? Do they have study rooms where we could get a study group going?

Yes, they have some. They let you in if you have at least 3 students in the study group.
