Good luck to everyone!

Thanks a bunch! I am not taking any summer classes. But I am still doing stuff on my own. I am doing CLEP Developmental Psych. and studying to be a pharmacy tech.

But I am here to support you, too. :icon_hug:

Are you taking any class this summer?

Katie

Specializes in OR Internship starting in Jan!!.

I've taken classes at EC, TCC NE, TCC NW and TCC South (well, and SFA and TAMU-CC, but those are not local!).

I'll be glad to settle down to one place :)

Amy are you studying on your own for the pharmacy tech exam? I got a book and I'm thinking about taking it to.

Wow! We ALL have been all over. I have taken classes at BH, NL, MV, and will be going to CV this fall. Of those of you who have been to CV, how is it? I have never even been to the campus yet.

Yes, Sunny I am. It's much cheaper that way. This 1 place in Dallas was charging $10,000 for a pharmacy tech course and I know one of the DCCCD schools was charging $999. There were 2 books that I wanted to get but they were about $50.00 each and I wanted to try to find them used but couldn't. I did later find out that 1 of those books is available at Irving Public Library so I just went and checked it out for free. :D I was trying NOT to spend on all my saved $$$ on this because I know need it for RN school. The pharmacy tech exam is like $120 or $125 itself. What book do you have?

CV was okay.

I was MORE unhappy with my instructor at CV. I was taking a phlebotomy class and the teacher was a NIGHTMARE! My friend and I would have to leave work early and drive from Farmer's Branch/Irving (635) all the way through downtown (which was the middle of rush hour by the time we got there) 3 days a week to the campus.

She was a terrible teacher who would gossip and waste time talking about nonsense. She offended one of the older ladies in class and one of the African students. She was so clueless she did not even know she was doing that so we would just shrug our shoulders and nod our heads. I was so sad I had to drop the class since I really wanted my certificate. 7 people in the class independently reported her, she was fired and they gave us a refund. You KNOW she must have been bad because DCCCD NEVER gives refunds! :lol2:

So, I guess I don't have a fair picture of CV. I am sure you will do fine.

I eventually did the Summer phlebotmy program at EC which was GREAT!

Specializes in Psychiatry.

Amy,

CVC is an extremely small campus. You have to hike a 1/2 mile for parking, but it is a pretty campus. It has a "pond" you can study next to. The classrooms are very modern, clean and spacious. I was in the A building, but my husband teaches in the B building inside the BIT lab. All in all, I would go to that campus if the nursing program was offered there.

Kids on SDN take the tech exam all the time. They all say the classes are a waste of money since it is so easy to study on your own if you are organized.

I have the Delmar book, the Reference book, my old book from the pharm class at EC and the study packet the nursing students at EC use for Pharm that soemone here sent me.

I remembered when I was interning in the OR at Methodist there was a rumor that Mountain Valley was trying hard to get EC nursing to make them a second satilite (sp?) campus. They even had an announcement of it on there website (for a minute or two) a while back.

Pam at EC said MV had jumped the gun and it was still just an idea, but that was at least 2 years ago. Has anyone heard about that?

Sunny,

Yes, I was at MV for the last 2 semesters (A&P 1 and 2) and my A&P professor said something about that. Also, last semester at the end of the semester my Art professor told us the same thing. I asked him when and he said it could be up to 2 years. Also, when I went in May to the info. session for the RN program Pam Farley said something about it. I'm thinking she also mentioned Richland College. Richland would be great - they have a very large campus and already teach alot of other health profession type classes.

I haven't been on the SDN (what is the SDN site??) site but I have heard that it isn't that hard if you just study from a certification review book on your own. Also, Texas does not require that you take a formal education program (some states require it).

Sunny,

Are you the person that had big problems with Group 1? If that is you, please PM me, as I have some questions that I would like to ask.
