North Lake/El Centro - Fall '06!

Published

Congrats to all of us that were accepted to the nursing program at either campus for Fall '06!!!!

:balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!

Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:

Good luck to everyone!

I went to El Centro for a year or so and had to go downtown every day. Most of the time I took the train from Irving, mainly because it was free and I was too darn cheap to pay for parking! :lol2:

When I did drive, my car was never bothered. I parked in the 3 lots right near EC.

I have nothing but confidence in all of you ladies. I just know you will all make it. You have shown in this thread that you are all so determined. I am proud to know you. I will have you all in my prayers.

p.s Maybe when we all graduate we can establish the El Centro/ Noth Lake/ allnurses gang scholarship?

Katie,

I agree, the support here is great. It's really the only support I have - I have no family and am here in Texas all by myself. I am SOO glad that I found this forum! :icon_hug:

Amy, you are going to make it. We are all here to support you! I don't know what I would have done without the friendships I have made in here and that really helps. Your desire and passion will guide you further than you ever thought it could.

Thank you Sunny, we all appreciate it!

I can only speak from my own experience about downtown. I have had to go to El Centro several times and each time something has happened to my car. The first time someone threw trash with some kind of liquid on the hood of my car, the second time my windshield wiper was taken off, and the last time someone broke my side mirror. This has all been in broad daylight, each time in different parking lots around campus. I just though it would be better on my pocket book to stay away from downtown. I guess everyone has their own opinion in the matter. One bitten, twice shy kinda thing. I have learned my lesson and now when I go down there....I drive our Suburban rather than my car.

60 days until August 28th!

I scheduled/paid for my nursing math class at ECC for the Sat, 26th class.

Kendra, I had to nix my hard drive. Could you forward the e-mail from the Nursing Dept to me? (The one sent b/4 the orientation.)

OK...back to STATS!

Personally, I don't like to park in downtown either. I've had my car messed with and I hate walking around there at night. They need more security!

Thanks, Kendra. Got it. :)

I feel the same way about downtown. Loitering could be a bad thing anywhere. Then you have the people begging for money....We're students for pete's sake. We should be begging for some of their daily profit. :uhoh3:

I've never a vehicle bothered anytime I've had to go anywhere in that area, but have had it keyed (in Irving) at a high school. (Guess I made a student a little mad) :chuckle

Anyway, just saying I don't like it down there, and I'm soooooo glad I got in at NLC. :)

For those who don't know already, I lived in Irving pretty much all my life, up until a couple of years ago. Graduated from Irving schools & went straight to NLC after graduation. So, it's a home away from home. :lol2:

Specializes in Nephrology.

Weird- I wonder why y'all's cars get messed with. I'm sorry to hear that. I know downtown does have its bad parts but it's not all that bad. You guys sound like my mom when she talks about having to come visit me lol. All you suburbian queens hahaha

Awww, I've lived and worked in downtown. It just makes me nervous to leave class at 10p and walk through dark streets and that one parking garage near campus where the stairway always smells like urine...it really gives me the creeps!

Leaving any class at 10pm creeps me out. (Especially my late night Health professional math class I took back in '91, which was held under the emergency room parking garage at Parkland Hospital.)

That was freaky...going down the elevators, walking down past the empty laundry rooms, down a long hallway...... Yep, didn't like it one bit. :chuckle
