I'm going to be at the NLC campus! See you in June for orientation!
Also, congrats for making it to the next semester to all new 2nd - 4th semester NLC/ECC student nurses & congrats to the graduates! :balloons:
Good luck to everyone!
I'm going to try to get one, but I'm not sure which one.
I have looked at ads on a HP model, but I'm so confused!
(I've read pros/cons on here and on other sites, but I just don't know.)
I want LOTS of memory & storage, bluetooth & 802.11b internet ability. That's my main wants...and of course a color monitor :chuckle and a long lasting battery.
Bluetooth so I can send pics from my camera to my PDA, and then use the 802.11b wireless to send the pics to my computer. :chuckle
(Beats having to pay for e-mailing each pic from my phone.)
*EDITED TO ADD: Here's the DELL I've got bookmarked:http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/ProductDetail.aspx?TabPage=overview&sku=A0484001&spagenum=&category_id=985&brandid=&k=&c=us&l=en&cs=04&mnf=&prst=&prEnd=&mnfsku=&orderby=&searchtype=&pageb4search=&page=productlisting.aspx&instock=&refurbished=
I must say - I absolutely LOVE my Dell x50v - LOVE it. Sometimes I dont charge it for a week! It has the bluetooth and a bluetooth wireless keyboard, a docking cradle for the pc to sync with (easier than messing with wireless sync) and 802.11 something or other wireless - which I will soon be able to use at work to write prescriptions without even leaving the exam room. In the NICU I had all the drug refs and calculators on it. I like having the medical dictionary, abbreviations reference and other refs handy - all in one place - get a HUGE SD card - and when you install your programs - do not install them to main memory - install them to the SD card - thins will make your machine run a little better.
Some people like the palm format, some like the pocket pc (dell, hp, etc). The argument is like mac and pc - A) does the software you really want come in the format you intend to buy? and B) which one do YOU prefer? - is the bottom line.
Go someplace that carries machines in both formats and play with them to see what you like, see what software comes in which format and then decide.
I do LOVE my Dell though!
I want to get a PDA too. I'm hoping to figure out which one is the best, and then ask for it for Christmas :) That does look like a pretty nice one, Fun. Can you replace the battery yourself?I like Free Cell!
No after looking at it more closely, and knowing to look for a replaceable battery, I found that it is NOT user replaceable. So, back to the drawing board, because I won't buy that one!
So, I'm looking an actual Dell. Apparently, that link was a Dell page, but not a Dell product.
Gauge....I'm thinking about at least a 1 Gig card, if not the 2 Gig.
You DEFINATELY want a user replaceable battery - my old HP did not have that and it cost me 200.00 to have the battery replaced - which died again in 8 mos. It was a piece of JUNK.
My Dell uses a battery that is a lot like a cell phone battery - just take it out and pop the new one right in!
I've heard good things about the Dell.
I'm just trying to figure out how important is it really to have the user replaceable battery? I know it is a handy thing, but how many times will I really need to replace it? I've never had a PDA, so I don't know. I know that I have never done it for a cell phone though.
A battery is good for a year to two years max. If the battery is not user replaceable, you will have to both buy a new battery and pay to have it soldered into the unit - VERY expensive - the labor to have it done is where they hurt you the most.
You do not want to buy anything that does not have a user replaceable battery. I had 2 ipaq's that had that issue - they were both hand me downs thank goodness. For the most part they sat in the drawer because the batteries would die - AND when the batts died, I had to reload all the software everytime and I got tired of messing with them. After replacing one battery in each unit - I sold them on ebay and gave up on em and bought a dell - but I knew fer darn sure it was gonna have a user replaceable battery!
gauge, I understand! Even though I'd may want a new one in a couple of years (a graduation gift to myself?), I probably would have to stick with the older one for a while after I graduate.
I'd rather buy the battery and pay myself for the labor. :chuckle
BTW, congrats on your graduation! :balloons:
