Hey Amy! I've been meaning to jump on here and say it was very nice to meet you this week!

I was one of the last groups to pick clinical spots, I ended up with my first pick, Medical Center of Plano. I just picked that because I live in Carrollton, and it will be a lot closer for me to drive to. I hope my poor car makes it through these next 2 years. :D

and in response to your last comment, you go girl! We earned this very prestigous spot, and I personally am NOT going to give it up! So I will be doing everything in my power to learn and if that means driving an instructor crazy with my questions...than so be it...isn't that what they are there for anyways?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hello everyone, sorry to impose but I have a few questions concerning North Lake campus. Is the nurse pac and skills pac the same thing? What is SNA? Do we need the dosage and calculations book if we study the study guide? I was late to orientation and missed a few things; sorry I did not get the chance to meet any of you, but I hope to during the semester. Thanks and good luck.

Spill,

Nice to hear from you again. I had been wondering about you. I wasn't sure if orientation has scared you away or what. LOL!

I was glad to hear that you got your 1st clinical spot condering your # was a ways down the line. Is that the place they were saying you have to wear white scrubs instead of the uniform?

I took the pharmacy tech exam on Saturday - I am keeping my fingers crossed that I passed. It really sucks because it takes 30-60 days to get results. So here I am WAITING for something AGAIN. :scrying:

hi, Lovefaithcharityjoy,

i am first semester student at El centro, but i believe it's all the same thing. SNA is the Student Nurse Asociation and yes we had to buy the dosage and calculation book , it was required. I believe because it will carry on into your other semesters. I am not sure if the nurse pac and the skill pac are the same thing, but they probably are and I have mentioned before in another post that, if some of you guys are interested, you can buy it from me ( for less of course). I did not have to use it. I was in a pilot group and we did all of our skills in a skill class prior to the programm and they made us buy this pac again, I wasted $ 50.00. PM me if you interested.

The nurse pac and skills pac are NOT the same thing. The skills pac contains things like gauze, Catheter kit, dressing tapes, abdominal pads, thermometer sheaths, etc.

The Nurse pac contains your stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, vis-a-vis pen, and pocket organizer for things you need (pen, etc..)

You do need the Calculations book, as some teachers have you do work in it....especially during second semester on when you are doing injections all the way to IV's.

The SNA, as said above, is the Student Nurses' Association. I joined because I think it's a good thing. I'm involved because I think it looks good that you volunteered your time. LOL!

Amy: Best wishes to you while you wait! Hey at least you have the holidays to keep you distracted, and the worst wait is over..finding out if you got into the program or not. Let us know as soon as you hear something.

And yes, to your question. I have to go find some white scrubs now! After I borrowed the $75 to pay for the scrubs at orientation. OH Well, I have just realized that you have to have a sense of humor about these things or you can really lose it.

Fun: thank you for all your input! I will definately consider joining SNA

Ladies-I hope you all have a wondeful Thanksgiving Holiday!

I hope everyone has a good holiday. I will be going out of town and spending the holiday with my family but not in a way that I would like. My mother, who is only 53, died Saturday. I will be flying to Nashville on Thursday and she will be buried on Friday. :scrying: :scrying: :scrying:

PLEASE everybody make sure that the people who you are close to and you care about know how much they mean to you. You never know when these things are going to happen...and then it's too late to let them know. ALWAYS BE PREPARED.
