Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.
Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....
I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future.
thanks for the info, were planning to visit sometime in early months of next year. We prefer a place near mountains and at the same time not too far from charlotte. Were looking into Indian trail, do you know about this place at all? thanks
I don't know about Indian Trail. But I live in a pretty rural area (yet it's growing) in Lincoln County. It's about 25 miles north of Charlotte.
Hi everyone! I live in Jacksonville with my Marine hubby and 2 little ones. I am starting the ADN program at Coastal next fall (2009). I am loving this beautiful fall weather we have been having!! Have a wonderful day everyone!
I know this was posted a while back, but belated hello to a new neighbor. I also live in Jacksonville and am a CCCC graduate from the ADN program. Good luck and best wishes. Feel free to contact me if you would like to!
Hi Aborablepuppy, I'm in Granville County too! Good luck with your test! Did you attent GVCC for your classes?fgoff
Hey, yes i did, i also have already takent the med aide class. I just have to wait and take the cna state board and then i can take the med aide state board. I am excited to get to work. I have been unemployed for a while. I am working part time now. But it is only like two days a week and it doesn't hardly do anything.

Hi there,
I here VGCC is a really good school and the nurse aide and med-aide instructors are really good. How was your expereince with the medication aide class? I am thinking about applying for a teaching position there after the holidays.
Hi lanceeesse! I read your post from last month and thought I would tell you that I live in a small town called Belmont....we are just 12 miles west of downtown Charlotte (where I currently work) and are 2 hours from Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains....we are also 3 hours from Myrtle Beach and Charleston. Great place to live and I would recommend it to anybody!

Hey i have family in marshville. Have you heard of that? It is a nice area to.
Hello NC nurses. I could use your help. I am just starting my journey and taking my TEAS Saturday. I am applying to Mercy School of Nursing through CMC, but am also looking at UNCC, CPCC, and South Piedmont Community College. CMC offers the loand forgiveness program so that's pretty attractive to me. Any advice about those schools? Is there any financial aid out there in NC? How about the state payback program? Was the TEAS difficult? Help!

Good day everyone! I am a recent RN graduate from Virginia looking to join the RNs of North Carolina. I will be taking my NCLEX exam in a few days and pending my passing of the exam, I plan to move to the Raleigh/Durham area. I am undecided as to which department I wish to work, but I am thinking of CCU, PACU, OR, or Med-Surg if possible. I am trying to juggle whether I should consider Duke, WakeMed, or UNC... I am reviewing their websites and going over what they offer a new grad. I would love to hear from anyone who is currently in my shoes or has recently been where I am, who would not mind sharing their experiences with me! Its a pleasure to meet you all!
