North Carolina Roll Call

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

hello there all,

I am 39 yrs young , mother of two, graduated in July from LPN Program , licensed in August getting ready to start my first job as a nurse next week.

Have been working in various positions in an Agency that serves Individuals with Autism. Have been working in Assisted Living w/ ADults that have Alzheimer's and Dementia as a PRN Med Tech.

To CNAfromNC; You can do it. Took me a long time to get my LPN, and in the end my soon to be thirteen year old daughter was the one that encouraged me and reminded me to never give up your dreams , even if you have to take the scenic route.( If You want your RN but cannot commit two years possibly w/o work , get your LPN then return and get your RN while making LPN $$). I am sure we can offer You the needed support to keep You going.:yeah::wink2:

That's great !!!! Good luck:up::yeah:

Hi, we live in mas. right now but were planning to move in north carolina in 4-6 mos. My wife and I are both working in a long term care facility for 4 years now. Were interested in moving to a small town rural country type environment. Any place you could suggest? I would appreciate it.

Specializes in MHSA.

Do you prefer the mountains, coast or something in between? Consider how close you would like to be to a city such as Charlotte, Asheville or Raleigh. I live somewhere inbetween, a little closer to the mtns where I love to go for festivals and hikes in the forest. I am about an hour N of Charlotte and W of Greensboro but typically find all I need here in my area. Have you spent any time in NC or have relatives/friends here?

thanks for the info, were planning to visit sometime in early months of next year. We prefer a place near mountains and at the same time not too far from charlotte. Were looking into Indian trail, do you know about this place at all? thanks

Hi Guys,

My name is Jaysherrie. Im 34, married with two boys who I cherish. Ive been working on getting into nursing school since 2001 off and on taking pre reqs for a school in Ohio. Took an entrance test there and passed it all except math, re-took it and failed by a few points. We moved to NC in August and decided to apply to Watts. Studied harder then Id EVER studied before, took the test and failed it. I guess I didn't answer enough questions so I need to be faster? Even on the stuff I had no probelm with I got a low score I scored low on, but again I guess I need to be faster. How Im going to do that-not sure. I have to re take it before Feb. I feel really discouraged. I guess the fact that Ive been looking for a pt job in a hospital and the one interview I got I didn't get it, even though I was qualified and that was the first time I had a job interview and I didn't get the job. I know I guess Im whining and Ive prayed about it so maybe I need to be more patient. Im going to study for this test and take it again but honestly, Im nervous to even try anywhere else IF I dont make this one. Every place requires a entrance exam and my confidence is really low where thats concerned. On the other hand, a nurse is the only thing Ive wanted to be since I was 14 yrs old. I really feel like nursing is my calling. Do I need to just suck it up and try harder, which I feel like I studied my butt off for those tests. Take these things as a hint that Im not supposed to do this or....I dont know. I guess I need to get some advice, constructive criticism, something from you guys that have been there-done that.... so......yeah. Again, sorry for the whining.:icon_roll
