A funny story.
Working one night (LTCF) and helping one the the res. to the dining room, for snack. We were talking going down the hall way. This res, I'll call him Sam. So Sam and I were talking about nothing at all really. He's in is 90's, about 5 feet 5 inches (I'm 6 feet tall) with Alzhiemers. He stops looks up at me, tells me what a good looking gal I am (he's a flirt), I tell him thank you. We take a few more steps and he stops again and asked me to marry him.lol Me: sure, why not? Sam: Are you rich? Me: No Sam, you know where I work at. But marriage isn't about money it's about love. Sam: You got lots of love? Me: Yes Sam, I've got lots of love to give. (As I point to me heart.) Sam: You got lots of love, huh? Lots of love there? (he points to my crotch area) Me: (Turning red) Sam, you know love dosn't me lots of sex! Sam: I don't need you then, I need a hooker.

I don't know about Indian Trail. But I live in a pretty rural area (yet it's growing) in Lincoln County. It's about 25 miles north of Charlotte.

Vent...maybe a cry for help.
Sadly, the admins know about the problem. It's really hard to get into anybodies thick skull, about the problems at the facility. I've thought about contacting the state. I don't think that they would force the place to shut it's doors but maybe it would open the eyes of the admin to get the crap straight! Deleted info I should not have posted. Just incase someone might know of the place I work at.

Vent...maybe a cry for help.
I'll start this off with saying that I'm going through alot personally. I've been working at a LTC facility for the past 2 months. This place sucks to the highest order. Re: the resident care. I can say that atleast 3rd shift cares about them. I go out of my way to make sure they are happy, and healthy (as much as I can). The first voids that once I leave in the am. It's 1/2 through the month there are no diapers/pull ups. We are using supplies that we buy with our own money and we take them with us when we leave. We had a res. that for three weeks have diahrea. WE tried to have him sent out but his "vitals" we fine. Yes they were but the man is clearly dehydrated, has lost a lot of weight. Yes, res has the right to refuse a changing, but their roommate as the same right to a non-stinking room. The food is less than subpar- I would rather eat hospital food. Their diet restrictions aren't taken sersiosly. Diabetics are given what ever they request. But we can't get into the Kitchen incase we have one whose sugar has dropped. We have to break in with a knife. We run out of linen, towels, washclothes etc. I've searched for OJ in the kitchen and find nothing but chocalate chips to give. When I walk in at 6p there are lights going off everywhere and the 1st shift folks are sitting around the nurses station, just waiting to leave. I've came in 15mins early and I still had to get the light before I clocked in. A res cried to me the other morning begging that I not leave. "that I'm the only one who listens and cares for them". DH is a firefighter and has been called out there way to many times to count. The ff's at the station dubbed in LW Deathcenter. The last time I worked in a LTCF was 5 years ago and I haven't worked in that time. I'm thankful to have this job but I wish the res were happier. I would love to quit but the thought of leaving these kind older and younger (the youngets there is 27) folks scares me. If you've gotten this far thanks for "listening".

I called the local community college this morning inquiring about their LPN program, they are accepting applications at this time. I hope to hear from them tomorrow.

CVCC CNA 1/Nursing Program
I took my CNA there about 5 years ago. For me I found it pretty easy. The instructor I had was pretty straight foward about how things worked.

North Carolina Roll Call
New member from Denver NC, just outside of Charlotte. I am a working mother of 2 daughters. Married for 8 years. My husband is a career firefighter in our little town. I worked as a CNA during 2004. I stopped working in July 04 to care for my two children at home. I (stupidly) let my CNA expire. I just recently found a "Assisted Living Center" to work as a Caregiver but using my CNA skills. It's more of a Nursing home. I enjoy working and helping the residents of the facitly but I can already tell that I'm going to get worn out quickly on it. There is a lot of turn-over at this facilty. I've been there 5 weeks now and 4 people have quit. Last night I took my first punch, luckily on the back, I just happend to turn in just enough time to avoid being hit in the face. I've joined here to help motivate me to go back to school. I don't need much, just some extra support. Sorry for making my into so long. Alexandria
