North Carolina Roll Call

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Hi everybody,

I live in Durham for the past 9 years, moved from New Jersey I am presently a hemodiaylsis nurse. I have been in nursing since 1988, first as a LPN, then RN and got my BSN from Jacksonsville University.

Specializes in Postpartum, Antepartum, Psych., SDS, OR.

Where do you work, and do you like it?

I live in Fuquay Varina and I'm trying to get into Watts nursing school. Any advice?

Cay,

I work for Fresenius in Durham. I enjoy the work and learn something new everyday. The people I work with like to have fun so we are always kidding each other. The company is O.K. they want to do the right thing but like anyother business they are out to make money.

Can you tell me? Was it hard to get on with them. I just applied yesterday and was wondering how they are? As a company and as a place to work. Thanks so much.

Hi guys'

I'm Kim....very new to the web. Live outside of Charlotte and have worked as a Pacu nurse alomost 15 years. Looking for someone who can handle aome of my "nursing stories" without grossing them out and feedback. (The little face are fun too!)

adorblepuppy,

They are always looking for good nurses just like any other company. The best thing to do is follow up with a phone call. I got hired through an agency but just call them from time to time to show interest and I bet you will here from them. As a company I have to be honest I have worked with better but I have worked for some much worst. They want to do the right thing but right now with the economy the way it is they are just trying to keep going. They appreciate their employees, but do work us hard but if you balance that out with having fun while you work it is O.K.

Well hello neighbor..!

I too am in Asheboro. Born here and lived in Greensboro for the largest part of my life. Recently I was laid off from a long term job and career of which I was changing anyway. Just hadn't planned on being so soon!

I have been in class online for substance abuse counseling, but I have had to drop that for now to find employment and something in the same line of education or certification to further my career change.

I am VERY interested in achieving a CNA and working locally. Have you found anywhere to do this in a timely fashion? I am going to call RCC today, I didn't see anything about CNA classes online though.

Anyway, nice to see others close by. I could use all the help I can get and I am more than willing to help others if I can in any way. After all, that is why I am changing my whole life at this late stage; I feel the need to help others while helping myself to achieve this goal.

Thanks for being here..!

Hello from Mint Hill! I am a CNA student at CCHS and I am in pre-nursing at CPCC. I am a SAHM of two little ones. I have been waiting for this since I was a little girl and I so excited to be finally starting my nursing career!

Specializes in NICU/PICU.

Hey everyone, new here, in Fayetteville... military reasons, from VA originally. 6 years in NICU/PICU. Looking to go back to school for PNP if anyone has any advice, its welcomed!

Specializes in Oncology, Education, Ortho, Infusion.

Hi!

Been in Union County, NC (south Charlotte area) for 3 years now.

Love it here! Just can't understand why CMA's in offices can get away with calling themselves "nurses"!! I know they are not supposed to, but....they all seem to!

I am from union county. It is nice to see someone else that is there. I have family in marshville. If you know where that is.
