Why is my favorite TP no longer available? What is happening with our distribution network? Why no Scott?

Toilet Paper Giant Pivots From Scratchy Office Rolls to Battle Home Shortages
Kimberly-Clark will shift to making more of the plush stuff as coronavirus lockdowns keep consumers on the hunt
QuoteThe people who churn out oversize rolls of flimsy toilet paper for the office have a new assignment: make the good stuff.
Kimberly-Clark Corp., KMB +0.41% maker of Cottonelle and Scott toilet paper, is looking to overhaul its massive bathroom-tissue operations to meet record demand fueled by the coronavirus pandemic, executives said Wednesday....
...Even the fundamental materials used to make tissue are different. Bulk toilet paper is generally made with pulp that comes from recycled material, while bathroom tissue uses new pulp....

QuoteMajor companies are now absorbing the reality that something as mundane as toilet paper represents a uniquely complex supply-chain challenge. Paradoxically, the great strides the CPG industry has made in efficiency in recent years—especially the near-global adoption of “just in time” manufacturing and distribution—have now clogged the pipes that get TP to customers. And toilet paper is merely one of the essential items, from disinfectant wipes to baking yeast, teaching business a hard lesson about weaknesses of modern manufacturing and logistics. “The fact that we’ve been working so hard to try to make sure our systems run as efficiently as they possibly can has necessarily meant that we didn’t have weeks and weeks of supplies sitting around,” says Leslie Sarasin, CEO of FMI, a trade group that represents the grocery industry.
Big purchases from those groceries have snowballed—by orders of magnitude—at manufacturers like Procter & Gamble, maker of Charmin, and Kimberly-Clark. That means that even as production has increased, back orders are likely to last well into the Summer. Persistently bare shelves, meanwhile, perpetuate the perception that there is a true shortage; thus, the panic buying continues. “We are prepared for thousands of different events, from cybersecurity attacks to earthquakes to fire,” says Julio Nemeth, P&G’s chief product supply officer, whose earnest voice is accented by his native Argentina. “But we were not prepared for all of those happening at the same time, which is what the pandemic brought to us.”
Do y'all think we should start stocking up before flu season starts? I keep thinking it will get even worse during flu season. I have to get the flu shot for school because I never usually get it but this year I'm going to make sure my children get one too. This won't be the average flu season!
I'd stock up---just took inventory this AM of paper products, soap and detergent needs. Stocked up on some meats today too. Clorox gallon in stock but wipes MIA 3 stores.
Oldest son in survivalist mode?, buying ready to eat provisions "back order", 55 gallon drum for water storage (have public main hookup, great water) --not needed, empty in garage. Bought seeds to plant victory garden - not created as got involved with friends home repairs. My tomato plants and chef sons herbs growing nicely.

There goes all our TP, Clorox, Tylenol, cough drops, tissues, etc. We still don’t have bleach or cleaning wipes available in local stores.
This post reminded me of that commercial that was on TV a lot after the hurricanes of 2017. It was about some deep crying freezer for seeds so that when the apocalypse came those who had it would be able to plant their on stuff or some BS. They wanted an astronomical price for it and was advertised all the time. Haven’t seen during the pandemic surprisingly....
