This is a follow-up to the "will the nursing shortage ever end?" post. If there's a glut of new grads and unemployed nurses in your area, post your location. I'll start: Bay Area/NorCal - no jobs here, kids!

Eastern / Central Kentucky- I have never heard of an umployed nurse. There is definitly not a surplus. I am also in Oklahoma at the moment, and there is definitly a shortage here in the rural areas. To say there is or is not a shortage is a generalization. According to uncle Sam, overall there is still a shortage.
Just moved from Louisiana, swimmin in New Grads, jobs for those with experience, but not a lot of experience...have to pay u more. Also Texas...swimmin with new grads...(by the way we love you and are glad you are nurses..this lousy economy will pass, people will keep getting older and you will have jobs. When I graduated in the late 80's it was the same. Then there was this great time when they grabbed us by the arm and said, "when can you start?"

CALLING ALL NEW GRADS:
If you're in California... you're in luck!! The positions will be in Solano County (which I guess is the Bay Area).
I just saw a post on Sac State's Facebook page by someone who wrote that NorthBay Healthcare will be hiring new grads in the next few months.

ETA: I'm not affiliated with NorthBay. I just saw the post, and wanted to share it with frustrated new grads!

The island of Oahu, HI. I'm in nursing school and I checked local hospitals for positions last night, every hospital here is hiring. Also Jacksonville, NC and surrounding area hospitals are hiring as well.

Portland Or/Vancouver Wa. Glut of new grads. Glut of experienced nurses even, competition is tough. Very few, but some, new grad positions thru either Versant or a similar type of position, but overall still slow, with clearing on the horizon.
I suspect in another 3 to 5 years we will be back at active Hospital recruiting.

I thankfully am not tied to the area (Southern, MN) I get emails from Mayo (been trying to get my foot in the door as a CNA till i'm done with my ADN in 2 years) without much luck (been a CNA for 6 years, never done acute care) just keeping my fingers crossed. All the Intership positions want you to be in a 4 year program... which I can't afford /pout
When I gradumacate I will move wherever I have to go to get that 1 year of acute care experience, just hope it all works out
