Is there a school nurse job where I don't have to type another IEP evaluation?!? (I'm mostly kidding.) After doing nearly 50 already this year (we're only 3 months in!) I am really starting to hate them.

Private schools. Much less pay. Better interaction with parents.

I'm in a public school and have nothing to do with IEP's. Don't ask me why. It's just been that way and I haven't asked....

I attend all IEP meetings but don't write up any evaluations. What are you evaluating? I add an IHP to some of the IEPs for the kids who have medical issues but most of them I have nothing to do with except for being a part of the meetings.

I don't write or attend IEP meetings unless it is directly health related. We have a student support team; each member has a load of kids and they run the meetings and write the IEPs.
Now 504s? Yep, I attend all those. The meetings are run by our principals, but I do write a lot of the purely medical ones and do a lot of the talking for those.

I don't do anything with IEP's. Occasionally I will need to add an IHP but only for complex or chronic medical needs - I try to avoid them if at all possible :) Most of the time the IHP's only contain info that I would do and even then it is common sense interventions - things I feel don't need to be written down or they are already written on other required documents.

Luckily, we don't have any IEPs related to medical needs right now. When I first started, I had a handful, but they were very simple and already established.

I am curious too, what do you write the eval on? I am asked regularly for hearing and vision screening results. That's as close as I get to the IEP, except on a rare occasion I come to a meeting when there is a major health concern.
OMG I am involved with every single one! I attempt a vision and hearing screening for each, a health record review, parent interview and get the verification of medical diagnosis for our ADHD kids. I don't attend a ton of meetings but I have to write up the health portion of every report. It's the bulk of my job since my health aide does the first aid and med pass part.
Well, that sounds awful!
It is! Who does the health record review at your schools?!?
I just fill out a simple google doc. for IEP and special ed. reviews- it's vision, hearing, mobility, known conditions, known medications, and any previously reported services.
