Everywhere at work this week were flyers listing all the goodies and fun things they did for nurses week. Days and pms both had something special done for them on every shift this week.. Food prizes etc... On Noc we got nothing.. Like zilch. Not even a lousy piece of candy left for us lol! ..I guess nurse appreciation only counts when Managment is there to soak in their generosity. Lol

My employer itself is good about remembering nights, but a lot of times families and such brig stuff in and it's like they think their family member fends for themself from 7p-7a.

I am a big mouth when it comes to advocating for nights after working them for the majority of my career. I have tried to tell admin that they need to think about them more than just on the designated week, but to have the timing for inservices, round tables, and other information/avocation sessions more readily available. I told them a simple change from 8am - 7:45am would make a world of difference, at least for me, in getting nights to participate, but I haven't seen it happen yet. Instead they aim for 730 when you know not a damn one of us is out of report yet.
I always loved when we would win a "pizza party" and NOC got the left over supreme and two pieces of cheese pizza that was delivered at noon. It was always accompanied with this attitude of "look what we did for you!"...yeah thanks.

To Tait - and don't you love it when it's been left out of refrigeration on the counter with all the de-fizzed half bottles of soda too! And they expect us to clean up and do the dishes, too!
To bratmobile and all my other fellow NOC/11-7'ers, you have my appreciation. But then I do recognize & appreciate all of us nurses.

Yes, this is so annoying! Where I did my practicum the nurses on nights just ordered their own pizza/Chinese/whatever... nights were when the fun stuff happened, even thought it wasn't because of thankful management or patient families.

One time they had a party on days and left all the food out, including like 3 little smokey sausages in congealed BBQ sauce and said "oh we left it out so you guys could eat". Yeah because 7pm is a great time to sit down for dinner! Oh lol.

The joke is on days though, because the night staff are awesome :) My hospital made sure night shift got pizza and cupcakes, which was nice. But if I have to trade food for my coworkers and our great teamwork...I'll take my coworkers any day!
I agree!

At first I thought you meant like NIC and NOC and NANDA and I was like

My hospital didn't do anything at all for us. Oh, yeah, we had a 3 hour mandatory staff meeting, so I guess that shows they did think about us!
At one prior place, they used to have freq regular, routine summer barbecues for 7-3 & 3-11. Our 11-7 was always left out. They then started having a monthly breakfast spread for 11-7. It was a nice deal and as several of our staff didn't really have time to sit down and enjoy a breakfast, they could grab a nice takeout meal.
Sometimes some places do do nice things, I learned it's since been stopped, though.
