NMC Test Online

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

References must come from RNs, not doctors. Usually a charge or senior nurse. The reference is very basic. They just have to fill out a form from NMC and check off a box that says they believe you're capable - it's not like a reference letter.

@foxtrotinicorns

A form? Hmm. Im still on the process of applying for NMC registration. It has been said that I need two employment references, and I've asked former colleagues here in the Philippines who underwent NMC application before and what they submitted are reference letters with the official letter head of the hospital. So now I am confused if it is a letter of a form. Do you have any links for that form? As I can't seem to find it via the NMC site. Thanks!:)

Hi guys. :) I've been reading this thread and I am glad to know that everybody here is under the new scheme. :)

I also recently passed the nmc-cbt and was advised to pay the registration fee of £140 as the next step. The thing is, I don't know where to make the payment. I've looked on my nmc account but can't find it. I've also searched in online payments but they are requiring PRN, which I don't have. I only got candidate ID. Hehe. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot in advance!

I don't have a link because the form has my information pre-filled into it. I wouldn't worry about the references because they are very simple... I was surprised because I expected to need full, detailed reference letters also.

The form has 3 pages. Page 1 has your information. Page 2 has the reference's information, and asks what days you worked there, and in what capacity (nurse or midwife). Page 3 has 2 boxes that need to be checked. One is "do you consider the applicant to be professionally competent?" and the second is "are you aware of any issues that would question the applicant's character or competence?" with a space to explain any issues.

The last part to the application is the signature and "official stamp." Most people (including your doctor and references, and possibly the university) will not have an "official stamp." The form states that if you do not have an official stamp, you must write a letter on official letterhead confirming that no stamp exists. That's where the "letter" part comes in, but they literally only need to be 1-2 sentences long.

@foxtrotunicorns okay! Very informative indeed!:) thanks a lot! Btw, are you from the Philippines too?:)

Guys,

For some reason when someone mentioned the Royal Marsden book, I searched for an e-book immediately since I am very impatient whenever I buy something from amazon.

I can send an MF link if you need one. Here's my e-mail: [email protected]

I find the practice questions very easy and they provide answers as well.

Anyways, good luck for those who are taking the exam this Feb and March. I am still thinking if I should take the CBT on April or May.

Lastly, who's under IPAMS/CTN? I need a study buddy for this. XD

Hi forxtrotunicorns,

When did you finish sending your docs? and have you received any feedback from them yet? Thanks

HCL Permanent though. :) still, we're both under IPAMS!

hi all, thanks for the advice thus far. i am taking the exam march 5 and am struggling with how to best use the study time i have left. i have read through the code, and most of the nmc documents on consent, med administration, accountability, chaperoning, mental capacity etc.etc. However, i am more nervous about the actual med/surg/pharm/ content as i have been working in neonatal icu. Is it mainly the big categories: diabetes, alzheimers, stroke, etc. or are the adult themed questions very specific? thanks!!

Hi ekes15,

i am am in te same boat as you as I had been working in labour and delivery/ postpartum. I write March 2! If you want to email me we can chat if you want :) [email protected]. Would be good to see what others are studying!

I'm so nervous for my second sitting. It's on March 16 and I have re-read the guidelines, standards, code, and I'm now delving into the Royal Marsden book. I've also searched for more information about aging and care for the older adults... Infection control... superbugs... what else did I miss?

Hi ekes15, dana_canada and Tsukime!

I am also sitting the CBT exam this March 9. Are you guys just reading policies or do you have a Q&A that you're answering? Do you think the questions are more situational (application of The Code/policies) or objective-type?

For the Royal Marsden book, I also downloaded an .epub of the 8th student edition online. But I've noticed that not all the chapters have end-chapter questions, is yours like that as well?

Please PM me if you can shed some light on these, I'm pretty nervous about the exam too as well. :)
