Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!
Hi Carolyn79, did you go through the whole blueprint? I am finding a hard time with all the faulty links. I have read most the NMC guidelines/NICE literature. Also, I am taking the exam as a NICU nurse with little adult experience after nursing school in US. Do you have any advice? Thanks.
Hi ekes15, I didn't really go through many of the links on the blueprint because there looked like too many to be honest. I wish that I had so I was familiar with all the local policies.I just used common sense and hoped for the best. I would have been able to answer with more confidence if I had skimmed through them.
To be honest I was glad that I'm an ER nurse as it gives me a broad exposure to many conditions and areas of nursing etc. I think it might be slightly more difficult for you as your field is so specialized. I would definitely recommend doing lots of nclex practice exams to refresh. Any paed questions won't be a struggle for you!
Anybody got news if they had REALLY got rid of the "essential/critical questions"?I just heard today from somebody who took the exam and passed who believed they did.
I was told that they did NOT remove the critical questions. What they changed is the manner of checking your answers to those questions. This time, it's less strict.
Congrats to all those who are passing!
I also passed (my second take was on February 12th)... It honestly felt like a completely different test and I felt a lot more confident at the end of it, not frustrated like I was after taking it in December!
I talked with NMC yesterday, and they told me that no one has taken OSCE yet. Does anyone know if there was some different kind of OSCE because I've seen a discussion about it, however this is a new one. I'm wondering if they have any similarities. I haven't found any resources for studying but if anyone finds out, maybe we should start a new discussion about it.
hi all, thanks for the advice thus far. i am taking the exam march 5 and am struggling with how to best use the study time i have left. i have read through the code, and most of the nmc documents on consent, med administration, accountability, chaperoning, mental capacity etc.etc. However, i am more nervous about the actual med/surg/pharm/ content as i have been working in neonatal icu. Is it mainly the big categories: diabetes, alzheimers, stroke, etc. or are the adult themed questions very specific? thanks!!
Hi ekes15,
i am am in te same boat as you as I had been working in labour and delivery/ postpartum. I write March 2! If you want to email me we can chat if you want :) [email protected]. Would be good to see what others are studying!
I'm so nervous for my second sitting. It's on March 16 and I have re-read the guidelines, standards, code, and I'm now delving into the Royal Marsden book. I've also searched for more information about aging and care for the older adults... Infection control... superbugs... what else did I miss?
Hey guys this might sound out of topic but this is the only NMC thread where a lot of people have been applying via the new process. :) hope I'll have permission to post this!
Just want to ask questions regarding the required employment references. Is it okay if I ask for references from my charge nurse and an ER-Pedia doctor? I work at the ER and I assume it will be okay as I've been working with that doctor for 2 years. Also, does the NMC require any format for the references or are the referees have any freedom to write what they want? Thanks everyone!

Congrats to all who are passing!!
Anxiously preparing for my second attempt...
Do any of you have advice on specific NICE guidelines to look over? There are so many on their website…i'm getting overwhelmed!
Also, do you feel like the new Code of nursing or the old one was used on the exam?
Any advice is much appreciated! :)
