NMC Test Online

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

I'm for Addenbrooke's and this article is making me very sad. :( What do they mean they could not recruit overseas nurses?

I think xhiwari although yes this news is sad beccause currently, uk is restricting overseas nurses esp in the philippines to go to uk (because they did not put nurses in the list of shortages of occupations except nicu and o.r. i think), i think we also have to be happy because they are in dire need of us. They cant stand long without filling those gaps. As they said, eu nurses arrent available til 2017 i mean those who are still training. We jist hope that the uk gov heard that so that they will revise the list of occupations with shortages..so that the 168 nurses who applied will have a grater chance receiving a c.o.s. besides I believe that the reason why only 12 nurses out of 168 received c.o.s. did not mainly stem from the reason that the uk gov did not grant them cos but because they still didnt reach the level of applying for a cos. We all know that before we reach that stage we have to pass ielts, cbt, pay nmc, and send all docs as well as to manila for iom. í ½í¸Š

It is true let us all pray that our good Lord will guide us and will make us ready for what will be next for our lives.

Anyway, I am also waiting for my CoS. I hope everything will just go smoothly. I think we have the same agency. Where are you in your processing now and when will you be possibly deployed?

Godbless to everyone.

Hi, I haven't rang nmc yet been busy these couple of days. My last document was posted received Sept.9 only so you are nearly a month ahead of me lol. Will post update here.

Are you settled here in the UK or from abroad, which country if you don't mind. I'm settled here in the UK, I have applied for citizenship last month and done biometric already.

So what are you doing in preparation for the OSCE?there are reviews offered for £525 fee for 5 days. I might go for that since I haven't worked in the hospital here even as HCA and currently I'm not working. I'm reading Royal marsden and some books by Clair Boyd and Claire Merriman.

Very good luck to us all. God is good all the time.

Hello melcahussey,

I'm based in the UK as well but I'm not a citizen yet. I will be starting working on Monday as HCA in a hospital after being unemployed for almost 1.5 years waiting for my NMC application to come through. I have been revising my fundamentals with Dr. ****** lectures online and I find him really extensive with the basics. I do have the Merriman but it's still on its amazon packaging hehe! Good luck!

@dianaoldfield

Hi, I started working as a HCA this week. I have been waiting for DL for 6months and I decided to go for HCA job as I thought just doing nothing but waiting for DL is such time wasting and stressful, I needed to do something! I checked my email every 3hours hoping the DL would arrive before but now I am less obsessive. Haha

The NHS will give you a training and I found it very useful in terms of preparing for OSCE for example hand-washing, V/S obtaining etc. Although as a nurse everyone here already knows about these, still I think practicing is always good.

I believe how you do is more important than what you do in your job. We are here to help patients anyway.

Hello 072bomi! Would you mind me asking if you're from the old scheme? As 6 months of waiting for DL is a bit lengthy for the new scheme. I started with the old scheme last year around June but encountered problems with my registration verification abroad (didn't meet the deadline) hence I started anew for the new scheme and passed the CBT last May. I agree that practising in the hospital setting would be very beneficial for the OSCE. I hope you'll get your DL soon!

Hi, dianaoldfield

I started the registration with a new system and passed CBT this March.

The first queue date was 5 June and NMC asked me to submit extra documents in the middle of July then the second queue date was 25 Aug. Let's see how long I will have to wait for either DL or another additional document request.

@072bomi, do you mind me asking what additional documents did they ask for? Like most of us here, NMC really does test your patience. Hang in there!!

Hi everyone!

Anyone who was lined up for CoS this September?

Any news from your agency?

I was lined up as well but i think it was denied since the minimum point was 39.

After NMC problems.....here comes the CoS

And i heard that they will have new point system starting this october..

Its getting harder each time.

I was requested to submit the UK police check(as I have been living in the UK since Apr this year), the transcript of training form from my university but with a different format (the university sent their own official form but NMC had to calculate the hours which NMC refused and asked my university to change the format!), and they also said the forms sent from my university did not look original so asked me to contact my university to send NMC a letter saying these are originals. :-/

Hi nurses!

A few queries here.

1. In the form that was supposed to be accomplished by the university, the contact name and contact email address that were transcribed by my school was that of my Dean's since she was the one who filled it out. Should these details also be the ones to be reflected in the online portal? I am quite confused with this because our university has its own email address and contact number. I know for a fact that she has placed her (dean's) contact details on it since if someone from NMC calls for verification, she could directly answer them. However, the contact e-mail address seems to be a personal e-mail address (like [email protected]). Won't this be an issue with NMC? Usually, university email addresses are ending in (.edu)

2. Another thing, the university is situated in a city, which is called City of (********), not (********) City because according to what I know, there is a difference why one is called apart from the other. However, the university indicated the wrong one. Do you think it would be an issue with NMC? I hate to smear the forms with correction fluid, so if this would not be an issue with NMC, I'd leave it like that. Anyone who had the same experience?

I know the issues are quite trivial. I just don't like to have discrepancies with what I indicated in the online portal and what's written on the forms which could potentially draw me back to forever.

Thank you for those who will take the time to respond! =D

Hi, @mich567715! I believe we are from the same agency. I am still waiting for an update from them. Someone I know, who is from the 1st cohort from our hospital said that there is only a limited number of cos that was issued. I hope we'll both be granted the cos this month. I'm starting to feel hopeless.
