Anyone booked OSCE on 1 Dec?

@dianaoldfield I was requested to submit the UK police check(as I have been living in the UK since Apr this year), the transcript of training form from my university but with a different format (the university sent their own official form but NMC had to calculate the hours which NMC refused and asked my university to change the format!), and they also said the forms sent from my university did not look original so asked me to contact my university to send NMC a letter saying these are originals. :-/

Hi, dianaoldfield I started the registration with a new system and passed CBT this March. The first queue date was 5 June and NMC asked me to submit extra documents in the middle of July then the second queue date was 25 Aug. Let's see how long I will have to wait for either DL or another additional document request.

@dianaoldfield Hi, I started working as a HCA this week. I have been waiting for DL for 6months and I decided to go for HCA job as I thought just doing nothing but waiting for DL is such time wasting and stressful, I needed to do something! I checked my email every 3hours hoping the DL would arrive before but now I am less obsessive. Haha The NHS will give you a training and I found it very useful in terms of preparing for OSCE for example hand-washing, V/S obtaining etc. Although as a nurse everyone here already knows about these, still I think practicing is always good. I believe how you do is more important than what you do in your job. We are here to help patients anyway.

@sherry000 Hi, when I called NMC regarding UK police check, the lady over the phone informed me 'Disclosure Scotland'. You can google and then apply online. I applied for a basic disclosure and submitted to NMC then they accepted. The disclosure was delivered to my home less then a week.

@summerscoopy I worked in the US before coming to the UK. While in the US, I got paid more than double the amount Ill most probably get if I start working here. I sometimes think it would have been better if I stayed America where nurses get better treated and paid. I cannot even imagine you, NP with master's degree working as a bank HCA. Just shocking and even knowing that is agonising!

@daniellecasey Unbelievable, truly unbelievable! Your case is by far worse then mine. Cheer up! I went for a job interview for band 3 HCA today and the panels said I am too over qualified for the job position. Also, they do not prefer to hire nurses who are waiting for a pin because if they hire them as a HCA, train them for months then they will get a pin and quit! I told the panels that according to a nurse from a nurses forum online, it is over 2 years but still waiting for a pin. The panels seemed to disbelieve. (Who would believe!!!)

Hi, I lived in the UK for 3years(2011-2013) but didn't work as a nurse so I didn't submit UK police check although now Im back to the UK. After the initial assessment NMC asked me to submit UK police check :-/ Google 'disclosure scotland' and you can apply the basic disclosure. Just read through the guideline. NMC advised me 'disclosure scotland' for UK police check so I sent then they accepted.

@melcahussey Thanks for your warm words melcahussey. I really feel a lot better now. My hubby hit the roof when I told this story that it seems like NMC is abusing me. I visited NMC total 5 times and 3 times I met the advisors but none of them ever mentioned that some documents don't look like original. If they think the documents don't look like original it's their responsibility to check directly to my university and that's why I paid huge amount of money for the assessment I suppose. Hi guys, I just thought that should I give up registration seriously. I was requested to provide extra documents after the assessment and did so. But it seemed like still no movement for further assessment so I called NMC to check if they were assessing my application. The NMC said the academic transcript did not look like the original and asked me to tell the university to provide the original. (The transcript was sent on this Apr!)I explained the forms were sent from the university directly and this is the original and they could check its authenticity by the issuance number provided. But they kept telling me to prove. It is just so frustrating. They only told me this today when I called. What if I didn't call... I just screamed to vent my anger. I really hope nobody here encounters this awful experience.

Hi Kizmwah, I read NMC guideline that you must practice at least 450hrs in the previous three years. Do you know if you have to attend a class or something to complete your registration? "If the applicant has been qualified for longer than this, they must have also practised for at least 450 hours in the previous three years. We define 'practising' as working in some capacity by virtue of their registration as a nurse or midwife. Practice can include administrative, supervisory, teaching, research and managerial roles as well as providing direct patient care. This can also include volunteer work as long as any practice is registered. If the applicant has not undertaken any duties as a registered nurse or midwife in the three years prior to making their application, they should contact us to discuss available options."

Hi, Im from Korea but worked in the US. Same situation with me regarding geriatric hours missing in the script from my uni. I passed CBT on Mar, all document sent on 5 Jun, was requested extra doc on 14 Jul. I came to London in Apr hoping I could complete registration soon but till now I am unable to do anything but house sitting. Care assistant job is not also easy to get either. Its such agony that I feel like I am not needed here!

Yes, I called NMC yesterday to ask something and they said once I resubmit, my case will be again back to the bottom of assessment queue, which may take 70days to complete. They are challenging my patience. I was thinking whether I would still apply for this registration if I knew all these.

Hi, I worked for a geriatric ward for a year before so Ill just ask the head nurse to fill the form and lets see if NMC would accept. My university said geriatric training is part of adult training course but they can not specify how many hours thus left it empty in the form. Registration process is really frustrating but I will not give up! Visited NMC 4times already and Ill do many more if needed.

Hi guys, just received an email from NMC for additional documents. Furious! They said according to the script from my university, geriatric nursing training hours were not provided so requested to submit extra form to prove that I had enough training for geriatric nursing. Moreover, UK police certi to submit although I didn't work as a nurse while I was in the UK. And one form from California nursing board, where I practiced my nursing, apart from my california nursing license verification. I didn't expect to be requested such many extra documents! I think it's either I wasn't very careful when preparing the documents or they just want to make the registration extremely difficult as I am an international nurse. Sad day.
