I've read several posts here regarding the processing of NMC and yes, it was all helpful.
But I just want to share my personal experience and would like to ask anyone from the Philippines who have started or who are still processing theirs.
I've applied for NMC registration (through an agency) last September 2013. I've received my pack 1 after 2 weeks, paid the fee directly to NMC and submitted the requirements through the agency. I was the interviewed and got hired by an NHS hospital (through the same agency) last October 2013.
The thing is, it's already March. Twenty-****-Fourteen. And I'm still waiting for the Pack 2. I'm getting really really hopeless and frustrated as to how and why the NMC is taking so long in sending my packet 2.
I just want to ask anyone who could give an insight to my situation or share the same experience -- especially those who were hired by NHS through Philippine-based agencies.
Does the employer/hospital really willing to wait til you receive your decision letter?
Is it possible to be deployed to UK while you are still waiting for your decision letter?
Recently, I've come across a lot of job ads here in the Philippines regarding employment to UK, but does anyone here knows the true employment situation in the UK? Do they really need Filipino nurses knowing that it can almost take forever processing the NMC decision letter?
I apologize for sounding a little desperate here for answers. But, truth be told, I am quite desperate for answers. So I would deeply appreciate anyone who would respond and share any info. Thanks.
Hi dana_canada! How was the CBT? Was it difficult? What are the topics of the CBT and how many items was that? I'm a filipino nurse currently working in Singapore for the past 4.5 years and I want a change of environment that's why I am planning to apply in the UK. I will greatly appreciate your reply! Thank you.
Hey Dana! How are you going with everything? Just wondering if you got your answer re the below?
Hi Everyone,I have just passed my CBT and have a question about the assessment stage. I have previously submitted all my documents under the old scheme as that is when I first applied. Does anyone know if I have to resubmit everything, or will they use some of my old documents?
I have heard that they have let some people use the ones they already submitted and others they have made do everything all over again!!!
Thanks!!
You're right.. Once you register online with nmc they will send your details to pearsonvue and will be told to contact them after 24 hrs. you will also receive an email from pearsonvue about your account and you att (authority to test) which is valid for 6 mos. if there's a test center there, you could probably take the exam there. :)
Hi everyone!I'm basically a newbie here at allnurses. I already took and passed my IELTS (Academic Module) last February 14 and now, I am planning to upload my documents for the assessment of eligibility at NMC, however, I have a query though. If I upload the necessary documents for the Step One Application and NMC gives me the greenlight to sit my CBT, what will be the grace period for me to take the exam? I'm a nurse working here in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and I am planning to take my CBT on August in Manila. My worry is that, if I proceed with the Step One application now, and NMC will ask me to take the exam within just 3 months, I won't be able to do it because I am here in KSA.
Hope for your reply gals and guys! Thank you. :)
Authorisation to Test
You have been authorised by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to take an exam with Pearson VUE. Information including exam rules and scheduling instructions are shown below. If the details of your authorisation do not seem correct, please contact your test sponsor immediately
Exam: RN1 - Registered Nurse - Adult Number of Attempts Authorised: 2
Authorised Dates: 11 May 2015 - 30 August 2016
This is the ATT email I got. Validity is more than a year. There is a Pearson Vue testing center in Riyadh though, you can take the test there.
Hi! I would like to ask if I can use the HR Staff of the hospital as my Reference in applying for NMC.I just had an offer in one of the care homes in UK and I'm urged to take IELTS and soon apply for NMC. I hope I could get a help from you guys since you have more experience with this. Thank you very much!
I believe they want the referee to be a senior nurse whom you have worked with.
hello
i am a newbie here, i am working in Oman and i wish to work in UK, ive read their NMC registration and im quite confuse with the process. i am glad with this forum cause im gaining insights.
anyway, i already have a potential employer in UK but they ask me to atleast complete the first stage of NMC registration, what is the first stage? is it the test or just the eligibility application?
Good morning everyone. I'm new here. I have just read all the comments posted, and everything was helpful. I passed the CBT last April, and am currently waiting for the decision letter. I was asked for a second copy of my IELTS TRF this month, and was told to wait for another 8-14weeks. I hope my DL comes sooner than that.

@karinnakaye unfortunately, it takes almost a month just to scan your documents to their system and once you are put on queue, another 6 to 8 weeks for them to issue a decision, so more or less 3 months waiting time. Very frustrating indeed. If they find something wrong or lacking in your documents, that will add another 3 months waiting time again, so make sure your documents are complete and correct to avoid further delays.
