New school disease & New treatment regimen

Published

In case this comes up at your school anytime soon...

I had a kindergartener come this afternoon with a new complaint:

He said he had a potato chip poking him in the stomach. I asked him to show me exactly where he was feeling this poking pain and he pointed just below his bellybutton.

After describing his lunch of potato chips and sandwich, I encouraged him to drink plenty of water to wash down said potato chips that were obviously poking his bellybutton from the inside.

He declined saying, "I've had like 10 sips of water and that hasn't helped. Do you have some medicine that will take care of this?"

So, he got a Tums tablet thanks to his mom checking yes next to the Tums on his health card back in August.

Then he announces, "I'll sit right here and let it melt on my tongue. It should be melted by carline, don't you think?"

Ha! You're hysterical...scoot yourself on back to class, buddy.

I'm dying.

Dying.

Do you want to lay down for a few minutes? Call mom? Saltine???

I must have missed something......what is therapeutic bordom ?

I must have missed something......what is therapeutic bordom ?

When a student is allowed to rest in the nurse's office where there are no friends, cell phones, or other activities. Healthy students become bored after a few minutes and request to return to class.

But only a stale saltine. Those are the ones that cure dying.

Mint?

My clinic is right next to the front office. Always lots if fun and games going on. My kids would do about anything to get out of class to sit hete and watch the circus. Don't think therapeutic boredom will work here...😷

Sorry for the typos!

Mint?

I don't carry mints. Or cough drops, because I'm a bad nurse, sorry!
