New Nurse Needs Shoes

Published

I am just starting my 12-hour shifts and I want to get good nursing shoes that will last me a while. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I love my Calzuro clogs with air vents.

Anyone ever try Merrill Jungle Moc Pro's??? I just ordered them from Lydias Prof. Uniforms...they LOOK comfie! I'm awaiting their arrival/

I wear Nike Shox at work. My feet feel fine after an 8 hour shift. If you do have uncomfortable shoes, I reccomend Dr. Scholls massaging gel insoles. Those feel great but do wear down after a month, so they are only temporary solutions.

I usually stick with New Balance, they are the best of what I've tried, but by no means fabulous. I had one pair that was ultra-comfortable, but when I needed another pair - OF COURSE they style had been discontinued. :angryfire The style that replaced it was crap and they hurt my feet. I could really use more arch support.

I hate hate hate Rockers - no shoe has ever hurt my feet so much.

I'll probably try the zcoils next. OMG those things are expensive. Plus, I cant help but think of a kangaroo every time I see them in an ad. I've not seen anyone wear them around here. Must not be a dealer nearby.

My favorites by far have been the nursemates Dove. It's a lightweight slip on that is good for long shifts.

I really love my New Balance slip ons. The are like sneakers but slide on. The part that goes over the top of the foot stretches so they don't dig into your feet. Everyone is always asking where I got them. I bought them online at Brown's New Balance store.

I have found that my white sketchers are the best so far. We have to wear white shoes at work now but before that I loved my adidas sneakers:rolleyes:

I have to agree with CardioTrans....love those Birkies! (Birkenstocks) They are pricey, but last forever. My first pair lasted 6 years (I did have them re-soled after about 5 years) They probably would have lasted another 6 years, but I thought I deserved a new pair! I was kicking out the toes of my athletic type shoes in six months (bed brakes, getting run over by w/c, ?? I don't know the cause, but I always wore a hole in the toe) So for the cost of two pair of good Nikes, I ended up with shoes that lasted 6 years. A quick polish now and then...LOVE 'EM!:)

Ive worn nursemates forever.....comfy but the bottom turns yellow really quick ( looks like ya dipped your shoe in pee ).....now I got rockers and let me tell you.......OOOUUUCCCHHHHHHH......the first night I swear I took my shoes off every time I sat down to chart..never had so much pain.

Another vote for Danskos -- for work anyway. I have New Balance for walking and I love them. Did a half marathon in them a few months ago. But Danskos can't be beat for work!

I tried on a pair of Spira today...they have a spring hidden inside the sole...they were SOOOOOOOO comfortable. But, they were $129 and 2 of my 3 kids were also needing shoes. But someday...
