Hi! I am a new graduate (December 2015) currently on the job search. I am taking the NCLEX early February. I just relocated to Connecticut so I do not have as many connections as some who went to nursing school here do. Looking for a job has been a daunting task so far. If anybody has any advice or is in my position as well, please comment! Thanks!

The state of CT system is hiring nurses in various settings. Be willing to consider taking per diem, part-time (which, amazingly, offer full-time benefits for working as little as 17.5 hrs/week) or durational just to get your foot in the door and then once in you can quickly lateral transfer into a full-time permanent position. Here is their website for you to check frequently and apply: Nursing Website - Jobs

A strong resume, references and persistence to keep applying are key to landing a position... Try job search engines as well as hospitals' personal websites to apply. Consider applying to home health care or visiting nurse services if you're not getting many call backs from hospitals. There's many opportunities in CT !

The majority of the hospitals here in CT hire new grads. Try Yale, Bridgeport and Hartford hospital

Yale and Bridgeport Hospital do hire new grads...however....if you don't currently have a BSN or higher, they require proof of enrollment in a BSN or Masters program prior to applying for the job, for the vast majority of the positions open.

I graduate in May, and I am also applying now. A local friend of mine told me that Stamford hospital is hiring with a 12,000$ sign-on bonus for BSN graduates! Anyone know how true this is?

I don't know anything about Stamford Hospital (or if the sign-on bonus is true), but I'd be leery of a position that offers a new grad that kind of sign-on bonus. What kind of environment requires $12K just to get people to work there? I'm going to guess not one that fosters a proper new graduate learning environment....
Stamford Hospital is expanding. They have several posts for RNs in the adult and pedi ER. There is sign on bonuses but its dependent on experience. From what I remember Stamford Hospital always requires at least a year experience in acute care and they 'strongly prefer BSN' for the vast majority of openings they post.

Stamford is expanding not sure if they only require BSNs. If you want to work in a hospital have a BSN and if you have an ADN look into corrections or rehabilitation/nursing homes.
I'll have a BSN... but Okay, I have 1 year acute psych experience as an RN extern-- hope that transfers. Do you know anything about their incentives or benefit package?
They have a GEMS program for new grads; I looked into it. Not sure the reputation of the hospital, but from what I heard so far not bad:/

Danbury Hospital also hires new grads (not sure where you're located in the state) and as someone who started there as a new grad, it was a great program. I learned a lot and was treated exceptionally well. I absolutely loved working at that hospital. It had its downsides, as any job will, but overall a great place to work.
