New Grad willing to work ANYWHERE! Where's hiring and doesn't have 1000's of apps???

I don't care what state, rural or city, day or night or both, what department. If there's a hospital on the dark side of the moon that'll hire me, when's the next flight? I am really terrified of being unemployed and remaining so and am willing to go ANYWHERE. Is there somewhere left in the US that doesn't have a huge glut of new grads? I unfortunately live in the bay area in CA which appears to have the worst new grad to new grad job ratio in the country, and southern california isn't looking much better. Can someone please direct me to either specific regions, states, or hospitals that would likely hire a new grad?? Pay doesn't matter, as long as I have enough for food & shelter. Honestly, at this point I'd consider working for free just to get some experience. Thanks in advance :)

Southeast Missouri---always find a job, new grads welcome.

if you don't mind the deep south...uab (university of alabama at birmingham) has a bsn new grad residency program, as well as a 5 month orientation/rotation program where you rotate through 5 different areas and then choose which one you want to work in...

they are a 900 bed teaching hospital with magnet status....just my :twocents:

(i don't work there - just a nursing student thus far...but i do live in birmingham)

I have been looking for a job since December, 2008. I'm on the same boat as many new grads in CA. I hold BS in Kinesiology and RN BSN degrees, student-nurse experience in ER and Tele, and I'm also bilingual. I don't know about other states, but LA, CA, by far is the worst. I've attended every job fair, every open house and the only thing I see there are millions of new grads loking to get a job, but not too many hospitals would give us a chance.

I saw that omaha nebraska had job openings and sign on bonuses recently. Done know if their is 1000 applicants for each position though

There was a recruiter that came to our school from Bronsville, Texas and he said that there are tons of new grad openings. I am not sure what hospital it was at but call around and ask. There are a few of my classmates that are getting paid to fly down there for an interview. They are even giving huge sign on bonuses with relocation packages. Brownsville is literally right on the border of Mexico and Texas so that might be why they have so many openings. They offer free spanish classes as well. Hope that helps. Good luck:)

BEFORE you look into this, please realize something.

The reason any hospital in the Valley (border of Mexico and texas), is willing to pay such huge sign on bonuses is b/c they are extremely desperate for nurses. The working conditions are terrible there, and the nurse: patio ratio is extremely high. They have to offer sign on bonuses, b/c its the only way to keep nurses down there. Once you take a sign on bonus, you owe the hospital x number of years, otherwise you must pay the bonus back.

Again, its also why they are offering relocation packages. They are desperate for nurses to work in such terrible conditions.

I highly recommend AGAINST it for a new grad to work there. Its a danger to your license -

Think about it.

Hi,I'm from an area about an hour west of Columbus, Ohio and currently work in a LTCF as a nurse aide while I am going to nursing school. The facility I work at is ALWAYS needing RNs. Currently, we need RNs on a weekend evening basis, a 2nd shift RN, a 3rd shift RN, and two administrative RN positions. The facility is a 106 bed skilled nursing facility and is very, very nice. I know they pay RNs pretty nice for the general area we live in. Granted, the wages for RNs here compares nothing to a new grad in the bay area. Also, with a BSN I can about guarantee you that you could have a salary position in less than 6 months if that is a direction you would like to consider. If your interested and want more info you can email me at: [email protected]nks and Good Luck! :)

I'm in Wisconsin, specifically the Fox Valley area (Green Bay/Appleton) and there are frequently openings around here.

Thanks TexasPediRN. That is why I did not jump up at the chance of going down there (Bronsville). A few of my friends were really excited because they were pretty sure they are going to get jobs down there. However, I knew there had to be a catch. It seemed way too good to be true. I cautioned them on the same things so hopefully they will think more about it until they actually accept a job.

Vermont needs nurses. The hospital in Plattsburg, NY is always advertising positions.

Eastern KY (aka dark side of the moon)! Most of our graduates (graduation was Saturday) have been hired.....and they are ADN grads. I think you'd get snapped up pretty quick with a BSN.
