New Grad Jobs in North Dakota?

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

I hear North Dakota is hiring even though the housing may be tough.

Is this true? If so which hospital? Do you think a large hospital will hire me as a new grad into the ICU or Med Surg?

I have a BSN but it's been two years since I've had clinical experience (ICU). I have an internship coming up in January but I am hoping to find a job before that or have a job lined up after the internship.

I applied to 15 hospitals in Texas so far and got one interview and two call backs. Interview didn't go anywhere :( and the two hospitals haven't called me back. I am starting to get desperate here and the Job Search was even tougher than I imagined.

HELP!!!!!!!!!! I am willing to go anywhere in the country.

they prob thought you were native ;) haha i get that all the time as korean american... never thought I would hear that lol. nice meeting you dude!

Thanks Delgadido! Seungk5 also informed me that Bismarck is quite welcoming. Glad to know there is some diversity there and friends to be made (although tougher).

Any insight as to why ya'll chose St. Alexius over Sanford? Thanks.

Hi all, thanks for your great tips about job market in ND. I'm new grad ADN, from CA, and it's tough to find a job here. I think I should join you guys there too :)

North Dakota is so desperate they will probably give you anything you want and pay your relocation expenses but bring a tent just in case because you may have to camp for a while...

I heard Fargo may be funner, but I wanted to get my experience in oncology. Their oncology is mixed with medical. We all dread medical(its pretty much medical from med/surge), but its the base of nursing and good experience to have. So I have a mixed experience.

I found a place pretty fast. I only stayed in a hotel to accept the job. 2nd flight in was in my apartment.

Airport->Car dealership-> apartment->fedex-> back to apartment to set up my bed and sleep. All in the same day

Delgadido, do you have a preceptor for your medical oncology? How are you liking orientation?

I wont be able to apply for a few months. My family wants me to try here first altho I doubt I can find anything as a new grad in oncology with no prior volunteer/ rotation experience. Its pretty competitive here like most large cities.

Hi everyone,

Speak from the heart. A girl I recruited is working there now.

I applied too to St.Alexius last night (Nursing - TCU) after reading from this thread about residency program in ND.... since i applied on a friday night, bet i will hear from them next week if they consider my application, can you please let me know of any other hospital that offers residency program in ND, I want to leave application to all of them..... i have applied a bunch of hospital here in Texas with no luck, willing to move to wherever.... ND is perfect place for me cause i love extreme winters.... please help if you have any infor, i cant find any rn residency program on their website but just RN position but they dont need experience...

You really want to do TCU? I think it looks boring, but everyone has their own preference. Its not a residency program like Texas... Texas has amazing teaching programs.

Datmurse,

Hi! My interview went well. The clinical coordinator said they will be doing a background check on me and will get back to me in about a week! thanks!;) I hope I get the job!

I graduated with my BSN last June 2013, but received my RN license this month. Since it's been over a year since I graduated, I don't qualify for most new grad residency programs. The struggle to find a job is REAL! I decided to take the plunge and applied to St. Alexius. I'm desperate to start my career!
