New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

There is a change in immigration regulations not AHPRA and their assessments of overseas nurses applications.

Apparently, ETEA is saying that they are still accredited. I'm still confused though. I also heard that a consultancy here in Phils is not processing their nurses' applications for ETEA because accreditation is still not finalized. For those who's going to have their BP this july and august, what did ETEA tell you about their accreditation? Thanks!
Their website states nothing about their accreditation status.

if you would download the Assessment Policy in the IRON1A page you would see there that they mentioned ANMAC and AHPRA. But as for the accreditation status, its really not posted in their website.

As for ACFE, they have intake schedule until next year but their accreditation is only until September 30, 2012.

hello! for those who already got their visas, how long did it take for you to get one? and is it advisable to go through an immigration consultant or is doing it alone okay? please do reply :)

Hi, still waiting for the visa. Yes, blue cross health insurance. Still a long way to go with the ecourse... by the way, have you got a place where to stay in melbourne?

how did you avail of the blue cross health insurance? is this really a requirement in IHNA? i think CON has some students who don't have this insurance.

got no place to stay yet. how about you?

when and where did you submit your visa, btw?

I am scheduled for the BP this coming August.... bu I have no visa yet... the medical facility where I did my medicals would forward the result (if I pass) the second week of july... do you guys think that I could get the visa ASAP? do they issue the visa that fast?

what would happen in case I would need to repeat some exams?

thank you for the information :D

hey patringrn, how did u go about with your visa application? did you do it on your own? what are the specific documents needed, if it's not too much of a hassle to ask. thanks much!! :)

Hi everyone. I would like to ask about the certificate of good standing from PRC. I went to PRC today and I requested for the said document. I was expecting that they would be the one to send it to AHPRA but they told me that they would just issue me a certificate of good standing and that I should be the one to send it to AHPRA since I don't have the request for good standing from AHPRA. Is this correct?

There are two ways: 1) they will send it via regular mail and it will take a month 2) you send it via courier and they will receive it 2-3 days after

hi marklouiemarco. I understand. But according to the man I spoke with, I should come back for the certificate of good standing this July 9 and that I will be the one to mail it to AHPRA not them.

this site is very helpful... my visa is 456.. the shortclass visa. every type of visa has its own requirements. I lodged it at the VIA center in makati.. are you from manila?

Hello sweetie. Don`t be sad. Hakhak.

Okay, anyway, to the real business. I`d try to answer your questions, but just a heads up: they`re entirely based on my experience and I don`t really claim that it`s the "universal truth".

Training from Hospitals: It falls under work history. Yes, it is considered as volunteer nursing and should also be considered as work history.

Statement of Service: Well I guess it`s the same as the Certificates of Training you`ve obtained from the hospitals you`ve worked for. Let`s just say it`s a "more intimidating name". Hahahah kidding.

If I can remmember it correctly, Cioman94 suggested that the certificate be called as "Statement of Service" (that`s if you can) because I think it`s more straightforward than the title "Certificate of Training". The thing is that, in your certificate, your job and the number of hours (full-time/part-time) should be clearly stated. I have seen several forumers here who were asked by AHPRA to clarify their certificates.

Internship: Yeah, Glio is right. I stated the institutions I had my rotations in and the total number of hours I had them. Worked out well: no clarifications asked from AHPRA.

Checklist or Trainings: I had the checklist. I had another table stating all the trainings I`ve attended; plus the certificates for `em. Both of them are actually right.

And I can see a "thank you so much in advance" right there so I say you`re so much welcome. I hope this helps.

Good luck buddy!

Hi Shaneyney! Thank you so much for your reply. Big help. :) I hope you don't mind if I ask you more questions. :)

Do I still need to submit a letter from my secondary school that proves that the curriculum was taught in English?

Another thing, I think I cannot get a Statement of Service for my training. I was told that my (paid) training cannot be considered as volunteer nursing since I wasn't hired anyway. I don't understand why, although I paid for my training, I also gave my SERVICES for FREE. That's why it's called Volunteer Nursing right? I'm still hoping I could get an SOS. All I'm asking for is a Statement that I worked for that hospital as a trainee. :(

I don't know, two of my certificates indicate "Post-Graduate Course in Clinical Nursing Practice" and the other one is a "Critical Care Nursing Internship Program". So I guess it should really fall under Internship? That would save me time to get an SOS, but would cut a few precious years off from my nursing experience. Advice, anyone? I'm really confused.
