New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Thanks a lot abhy. i am now scouting for BP schools...:)

hello salmonella! may i know your choices and target date? i searched the websites of etea, vchn, la trobe, ballarat and found nothing about the iron schedule for 2011, except for deakin which is on may. :uhoh3:

can anyone here provide information for bp 2011 especially for january or first quarter 2011?

is it true that if you do your bp in vchn or etea they will help you in landing a job after graduation?

hi nesciree.. i received your mesg thru ym mobile... added you at skype and ym... can you please send your mesg there? thanks... hope to hear from you asap :)

Hi everyone, I am a newbie at this and I just wanted to ask if its better to have your BP at universities or in training centers like ETEA? Will having your BP at a certain university give you an edge over those who graduated in another university? Will your employers look at the school you graduated from? I am considering enrolling in ETEA because I believe their schedules are flexible. I talked to one of their teachers and was told that they will send you to provinces (aprox 2hrs train from melbourne) for the 5-week clinical duty because there are less competition and people are less demanding. (she says that there's a higher chance of being absorbed by the hospital as a staff) Is this true? I heard there's more discrimination in the provinces.

I would like this lady to speak to me, a person from the country....less demanding, what does this mean? less care? to be slacker with work? treat country people as a bit slow?

If you call the country areas, provinces you may receive a bit of fun made at you, the country is 'the country' or the town you go to, not provinces, we have regional areas, but these are not referred to as such.

You may find a country hospital may take you on, but as I said time and time again, these are getting their fair share of nurses with no experience, at some stage, with respect and safety to their patients they need experienced nurses. But I have heard our local hospital is desperate for nurses does not advertise locally.....mmmmm wonder? and has been recruiting from overseas. I do not know if this organisation uses this hospital.

You will get treated no differently in the country than in the city, but you must make the effort to join in with other cultures, not congregate with your nationals and there is no law about speaking your own language in front of others. at work..but don't unless away from others hearing. As you may not be aware Australia is a multicultural country, someone of Asian appearance is very common in both the city and the country, you probably do not get a second glance.

Question for those who applied for a 456 Visa:

On the DIAC Website, it somewhere states that you might need to show documentation that the company you work for is an actively operating business. Example: Business Registration Certificate.

Is this really necessary??

hi nurses,

this is nice...however, it should state if you need to be a PR before you can avail this...but worth trying...

CONGRATULATIONS!!! kRIST,RALF AND CHRISTOPHER job well done, On your bridging course graduation Dec. 3, 2010 in Adelaide. Allskills Consultancy will sponsor a dinner for you boys. See you next week.

Hello RN oz1! Where did you completed your BP? I'd like to have my BP in Adelaide, but the problem is I have no idea what schools/colleges/universities offer BP in Adelaide :( I hope you can help me with this one. Thanks :)

Thank you for your reply. Im sorry if my previous question statement was a bit ignorant, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I should have used the term "country" instead of "province" but I was merely quoting the teacher from an institution. (I don't know if I should name names)

By less demanding, I didn't mean less care or slacking at work. I think I get the perception of urban places being more populous than their country counterparts thus being more busy in city hospitals.

Thank you for the clarification, Although I never been to Australia before, I know that its a multicultural country, but Im not quite sure about its countrysides. I have no problems trying to join in and having to know different cultures, in fact I'm looking forward for it. :)

I'd like to follow up on my other question. Is it important where or which university you graduated from? and will employers prefer graduates from unis over training centers like ETEA? I'm sorry but I can't help but ask this question. It might help me choose what school I should take my BP in. Thank you :)

Hi glitz!

The same with me...there´s no form anymore.....there used to be one in the QLD website...

Here in Brazil they told me that I need to clearly specify what must contain in this certification of good standing, all the items and ect...like it´d be a letter instead of a form...

hi NurseNathalie :)

Awww.. So how are you going to do it then? I hope everything will be alright.
