New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hi guys!!! anyone going to la trobe university this january?

hello! la trobe is one of my choices. but my top 2 are etea/vchn because after graduation they will help in job finding

hi all,

it's been awhile... very busy with work now (im chabeli's gf) and chabeli is also busy with work in the hospital...for those who PMd to ask how long till he got a job, it took him almost 3 months...and realistically, that's the safe time frame to look at as well... the luckiest gets a job after first month so always remember that the hospitals don't entertain you until you have a license number.... coz you still can't strt without it... and it's taking awhile for AHPRA compared to NBV....

i will endeavor as much as possible to answer all your questions given the time...i'm just on rest day off tomorrow...

hello! i hope you can find time to answer my questions. how long did you wait from the time you graduated from BP until your license was released? is job finding really difficult? what did you do when you are not yet employed?

Hi Chabeli, I have been reading all your posts with the closed topic about bridging program. You got your 575 visa. Can you pm me your ym please...I want to ask about all the documents that you have submitted to obtain the visa. I have the checklist for 575 visa do you just follow that one?

Thanks and hoping for your soonest reply... :)

Would anyone know if Mercy Health Training Institute is CRICOS registered? I don't seem to find it on the CRICOS website. I intend to apply for a student visa. Hey Mikyong and liaa were you able to talk to your case manager?

I think they are not CRICOS registered.. I think only La Trobe, Deakin, University of Ballarat are CRICOS registered...

Yes it is required by law that anyone holding a temporary visa must apply for health insurance. Since you will not be using a student visa, I presume, I am not sure if you will be qualified to apply for a student health insurance. A popular students health insurance is OSHC you can look this up over the net. If you cannot apply for the students one, then just apply for the visitors one from other insurance companies like HBA for example. Hope this helps.

Hi Haoyin, how did you apply for 575 visa? did you just follow the checklist? Or was there any document that you have submitted. I am a newbie here..i hope you can send me your ym where i can ask for guidance :)

Thanks!

Hi Abhy, are u on 575 visa?

I am on 572 visa.. what is 575??

Finally, my brother, who is in Melbourne, was able to talk to my registration officer (not case manager) by using AHPRA's number instead of the contact number which the officer gave in the letter. It was all about an additional requirement which is the Verification of license from California Board of Nursing.

I just want to share with the aspiring applicants who are NCLEX passers but without U.S. SSN yet that in the AGOS-04 application form, do not put there that you have been registered with Cali BRN because in reality you are not. As you very well know, our SSN is needed to get a permanent license number. It will only complicate your application with AHPRA because they will ask you to submit verification of license through Cali BRN. This matter was clarified by my brother and fortunately this requirement was waived. Thank GOD!

I hope to receive my pre registration letter, not eligibility letter as my bro puts it, anytime this week. I do not exactly know what the difference is. Anyway, I feel more relieved after my bro's conversation with my case officer. I am keeping my fingers crossed..God is really Good!

Thanks a lot abhy. i am now scouting for BP schools...:)
