New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

If you're from cebu, just go there directly. That's what I did. They are open 8 to 5 pm monday to saturday. I went there last monday jan 30. It's on a first come, first serve basis. Arrive before 8 am. They just post a paper outside the door and you write your name on the list. These are the requirements:

  • subclass visa number and description of the visa that you are applying for
  • your referral letter
  • visa office where you have lodged your application
  • 4 pcs pictures passport size white background (not more than 6 months old) not too far away, not too close. Teeth should not be shown. Both ears should be exposed.
  • Original passport/ valid ID with 1 pc clear photocopy
  • medical records
  • eyeglasses/contact lenses (if you wear any)
  • P4300 payment

NO FASTING. AVOID SODAS, COFFEE, ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, SWEET DRINKS/FOODS. DRINK LOTS OF WATER

Thanks, that was very helpful of you! I'll be going there on Monday I guess.

You're welcome! I will visit the Australian consulate tomorrow to get the list/requirements until such time that my documents will be available for translation and notarial seal. Hoping I could share whatever information I have from the consulate.

With regards to our Saudi Council License, I am not sure though if APHRA still needs the certificate of good standing apart from the license certificate. If I have interpreted it right, APHRA needs the licensing body to send it directly to them, the same way that we are doing with our PRC license.

If your certificate of employment is written in Arabic, translation is of course needed. In my case, my certificate of employment was written in English .

Police clearance needs to be translated.

Please share with me whatever information you can get with the Australian consulate.

By the way do we still need to have our Saudi documents pass the Chamber of Commerce and Foreign Affairs office of Saudi or a direct Certification through the Australian Embassy/Consulate enough for this?

Please check this out: http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/services/legalising-documents.html#certify

Thank you so much!

Really? I submitted mine also in WA on sept 2011. Three weeks ago I called up their office and they told me that they are now processing sept applicants in chronological order.the agent also told me that my papers wouldnt be processed faster even if i keep on emailing or calling them up every now and then. May we know how come u got ur third email from them eventhough you passed your papers just a month ago? I wonder what's taking them so long.. :(

I sympathize with you. sent my docs last october to ahpra WA, i also got the same reply last jan. 17. huhuhu. good for kring kring, but for the rest of us, its gonna be a looonnng wait.

anybody here waiting from Ahpra in WA for more than 5 months already? a friend of mine got her letter in just 20 days. i guess luck plays a big part.

yeah my friend too got her letter in just 20 days i think she passed hers last july 2011. there was really a sudden increase in the number of applicants last september that's why ahpra-wa is having a hard time in processing all our docs. i just hope that this would not make our waiting time more than 5 mos!

hi aila,

at this rate, since they are still processing september docs, we will be reaching 6 months :(

I have waited for my US immigrant visa petition for 4 years, but decided to gamble on finding work in Australia. I just pray for more patience. good luck to all of us.

hi aila. . I'm still wondering about the case of Kringkring . . . I am really confused about the system of their assessment . . If they are processing the applications in chronological order, how come Kringkring got her papers assessed first .. They told us that they are processing September applicants how come they have assessed the application submitted last January . . .

let's just wait if kringkring will get her LOE sooner than ours. i just hope that you'll get your letter this month! maybe after they process the september applicants the pace would be much faster.

Hello dear fellow nurses,

I'm just getting started on my APHRA registration, but there's one part in the application that left me very confused. I'd just like to clarify what 'evidence of continuing professional development' in the curriculum vitae mean? I understand that I have to list my training and seminars, but do I have to attach copies of all my certificates (including expired ones) along with my application? I'd also like to ask if in-house training/conferences/meetings, etc, would count as CPD?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I couldn't find that specific information on the first parts of the thread.

You would only have to write your continued professional development in a list, certificates for professional development are not usually required unless you are being audited when renewing registration, as 30 hrs continued professional development is a yearly requirement.

Anything you do for nursing is professional development - journal club, online course, attending in house/out of house updates or training -(singular or plural). Attending drug company seminars, own research, presenting findings, being member of quality team or reflective practise journals etc etc.
