New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

after more than 3 months of waiting, AHPRA ACT sent me an e-mail requesting for more documents.

one of the documents they wanted me to submit is a Professional Reference from my current nursing supervisor. This is not hard to do. I just don't know if others were required to submit this document, too.

The other documents they are asking are kind of confusing. They asked me to submit a:

-correctly stated Statement of Service. I know I submitted this one and I checked it before submitting just to make sure it's in agreement on what the board is requiring.

- certificate of registration status from all the boards I have previously held registration. I don't know if they are missing my documents or overlooking it, coz I even clarified it twice (thru e-mail and phone) if they received my registration certificates and they said yes.

Anyway, I emailed my case officer to clarify these things. Hopefully I'll get a positive feedback.

God bless to all applicants.

hi regarding the professional reference. They really asked you to make your nursing supervisor as your reference? Would they accept current charge nurse as reference? Btw, on your first resume, who was your reference? thanks!

hello aila..

yes i am registered in NM-BON so they asked me that kind of certificate. Yet as what i know, the BON in NM is a little bit different in CA especially it varies with the requirements in order to be registered in their state. If AHPRA will ask you about the good standing, just explain it to them that ur aNCLEX passer but not registered to their state due to some reason and they will understand that. your case is the same as with one of the forumer here and she just clarified everything and it went well with AHPRA.

Good luck ;)

thanks Makikay! I just included in my resume my Registration History which states that I am only registered in the Philippines. Btw, in the reference part of the resume, is it ok to make my Charge Nurse as the reference? Or should I put a much higher person, the Department Manager perhaps? We don't have nursing supervisors in our hospital, after the Charge Nurse it would be the Department Manager already. What do you suggest?

Thank you so much!

That would be fine aila. and you could even let your charge nurse sign in ur resume, who would stand as a witness that ur CV is true and correct as of the date ( this is one of the requirements of AHPRA in the standard format of CV, if i am not mistaken) :D

Yes actually that was what my consultancy advised me to do. So where are you planning to take your bridging course? I hope it wouldn't take that long for me to get my eligibility letter. It only took 20 days for my friend to receive hers, that's why I was very much surprised to read that some got theirs after 4-6 mos!

Hi! I was granted a 456 visa multiple entry valid for 1 year. I wonder if I will be allowed to purchase a one way ticket for this type of visa or I'll have pay for a round trip airfare. Please advise. Thank you.

Hi, me and most of my pinoy classmates are on a 456 visa, some on a multiple and some single entry. I am on a single entry and I purchased a one-way ticket, and I was lucky because I wasn't questioned AT ALL by the immigration about this. Most of my classmates on a multiple entry, also have a one-way ticket because they're planning to exit Oz and enter a different country closer to here so they could enter back to Oz ASAP. But some still got a 2-way ticket because they wanted to celebrate Christmas with their family. I think it just varies with what you want, and if asked, just answer them as honest as possible.

February intake is full ( i applied for their earliest intake but unfortunately there were applicants who submitted their application earlier, good thing I had a back up plan :)), You should be applying now if you want to be prioritize for their April intake. there is no deadline, it is first come first serve basis and you'll be placed in the waiting list once you'll apply.

well, on the Statement of Service, I had my HR manager do it, and on the CV as well.

regarding the recent professional reference that they requested, they said that it would be ideal to have one but they will not hold up my registration without it.
