New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

IDP seems to be busy these days. They haven't replied to any of my messages. Oh well, I guess I'll be doing the visa application myself. Hehe..

Hi Ladydee, i passed mine in APHRA-WA also...did they contacted you already if they received your application and did they ask you for any additional documents? I passed my application first week of october. Still waiting and hoping for a favorable response. :)

yes. . i have received a receipt of application first week of October. I followed up my application and luckily they have replied. They are still assessing the documents. Did you have your receipt of application too? :):nurse:

Oh no  I haven't received my receipt of application and it's already been a month. I contacted them already before a week or 2 after i submitted my papers but they said to just wait for their email. How did you contact them by the way? did you just emailed them or called them personally? i contacted them thru the message enquiry in APHRA's website. huhuhu. I'm starting to get worried that they didn't receive my application.

:(

Hi guyz, does anybody of you here familiar with the ARNTP program by UNISA? is it the same as the bridging program? thanks in advance :)

Hi. Im currently undertaking the ARNTP program here in UniSA south aus which started last october 5 and will be finishing febuary next year. Its an 18 wk program. So easy to get through for as long as u got the complete requriements which includes 2 years experience minimum. The university is conducting the program twice a year.

Hi. Can I ask what are your areas of placement during your ARNTP?

Thanks for the info. Is it the same as the iron program run by most schools mentioned here like LTU,CON,AAON,ETEA,etc.???? What's their difference aside from the length of time and how much does it cost? After finishing the course would it lead to registration as a nurse??? Sorry for the many ques. Hehehe. Thanks in advance and God bless

Hi. The next intake would be on april 2012. Please check the uni's website for the exact date. Thanks. http://www.unisa.edu.au

Hi. I do not know yet our area of placement because its yet to be release on the last week of nov or first wk of dec. We can request our hospital preference but the sa government not the school who will determine which hospital we're gonna be. As to the area, i think they will have to deploy us to the general ward as icu, or, mental etc is already considered as specialization. We also have the option to have our placement in the community or aged care. ;)

Sorry but i only have a little understanding with the iron and 0 idea with the rest. All i know is that they are all pathways in becoming a nurse here. ARNTP is divided into three subjects. 5 weeks for the professional issues in australia, which is about ethics, comptencies, standards indigenpus health in aus etc. We fjust fi ished it last week. This week until dec 18, we are studying med surge. And from dec 18- jan2, christmas break. Jan 3 - feb26 clinical placement and after that, if we pass, we are already eligible for registration. ARNTP is actually a recognized bridging program by AHPRA. We are currently 23 in class and majority are filipinos. For my tuition fee, i paid 14,200 dollars but i can say its really worth it because the equipment that we use in the labs are all sophisticated. The set up in the labs are also the same with that of the hospital setting. One more thing, the uni is not that fuzzy and strict when it comes to app, ication. Actually i have my classmates now who are not yet assessed by AHPRA but they were admitted by the uni. You just have to have 7 or higher ilets score and two years minimum experience.

Wow thanks again for the added info. :yeah: With regards to the 2 years minimum experience, does the school allow our volunteer experience here in the Phil. or does it have to be a paid nursing experience? A friend of mine is persuading me to try this route and I'm confused whether or not to take it because I'm not that familiar. I'm still waiting for my eligibility from APHRA and I'm hoping to have my BP early next year as much as possible.
