New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

World Registration

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

GOD IS VERY GOOD!!! :lttang:

I received my letter of ELIGIBILITY from AHPRA just this afternoon..:clpty:

It took me 3 months & 2 weeks before receiving a very important notice.

For me, my waiting time was lengthened due to my good standing from NM-BON (NCLEX), it lasted for 3 weeks for them (AHPRA) to receive my certificate.

With consistent prayer and optimism, everything is possible..Praise the Lord!

Thank you everyone for all the information and pieces of advice you've shared..

Now time for BP hunting...:yeah:

Congrats Makikay_rx!! To God be the Glory! Hope mine will arrive soon. Fingers crossed.

Hi! You sure already for the May class in La Trobe next year?

I have a friend and I think she's the first in this forum to seal the deal with LTU on May.

For the mean time, you will be waiting for the offer letter

But you cannot yet apply for the stud visa.

Its an online process that needs at least 123 days before your commencement day to be sort of valid when

you enter your eCOE to the immigration site...

Hey invanz.. the first forumer I met. very kind and good guy. Goodluck to your BP bro. Keep posted! Godbless!

Just new here. I'm also a freshly graduate Registered Nurse from the Phil. May I know the work arounds on how could I apply in this kind of jobs abroad? Especially Australia or NZ? TIA! :)

Hi peterpandesal and welcome to the forum! I suggest that you grab all possible 'clinical' experience that you can get so that you will be well equipped once you applied for eligibility. However, there are different pathways to consider, i have friends who happens to have 0 experience in phi, but has funds to take the full time "enrolled nurse/diploma in nsg' course in Aussie. its 1-2 years of studying but you can work 20hrs/week. , it will cost you roughly 1million or more. The other one is applying for eligib as a Div 1 nurse(which most of us here are taking, wherein you have to take the IRON program for nurses and in 3 months time, if God permits, you are ready for your registration as a DIV RN. you can read past post/s of the members because they answer all kinds of queries that you need and help you as much as possible! well good luck! :)

Completing a diploma of nursing in Australia is not a pathway into nursing in Australia. Only for the time you are studying!

Unless you have rights to a visa of some kind that allows you to work and stay in Australia after you complete your Diploma ANC off student visa it is back home to the your own country as you will not be allowed to work in ANY job.

Enrolled nursing and the certificate 3 in aged care are not on the shortage skilled list and therefore an employer cannot offer you full-time employment and apply for a sponsorship visa for you.

It is such a waste of money! ....And has been discussed on this forum Time and time again as people fall for this advice from agents over in the Phillipines.

The only reason why overseas RN's are offered work here and were able to get and can get if work available is that they have an occupation that is on the skills shortage list. Enrolled nurse diploma and certificate 3are not!

It was reported last night on the news that ten nurses (with diploma) studied in Australia from the Phillipines, India, Africa age care workers were sent home as their student visa's had run out and they were no longer eligible to work and had overstayed.

It is also offered as Private education places offer lower IELTS to get an offer,

Though you will never get Australian registration as Enrolled nurse without you 7 in IELTS.

Do not go down this perceived pathway to a place as a permanent resident in Australia.

thank you Ceridwyn for that handful info. i just posted that because that's how friends got their registration :) anyhow, thank you for all your help!

And to emphasize again, you can NOT get your registration as an RN via the EN route if coming from the Philippines. Either you are misinformed or your friends are very loaded to apply for EN, then take the IELTS here, then apply for a bridging program.

Not possible as an RN with a En diploma even with a coveted nursing degree from the Phillipines and not legally (employer being truthful) to get a sponsorship visa as an en. With all due respects to your friends.

Hi. Sorry I have to ask since I have little knowledge regarding visas. How did you obtained a visa when you haven't enrolled to a BP school yet? Isn't one of the requirements your Certificate for Enrollment?

Yes it is one of the requirement.I paid the tuition fee and they send me a support letter needed to apply for a visa.

So enrolled nurse are different from div 2?
