Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

hello. im a newbie here. i have a question regarding my ielts. i am currently waiting for my employment contract from my employer in a rural hospital in one of the states of australia. my ielts will expire in about a month. If my papers are filled in the immigration before my ielts expiration, will i be safe already? or should i just retake?it says in the english requirement for a 457 visa, that a minimum of 5 in all bands is all that is required unless it is required that a higher band be obtained when it is for registration, licensing or membership. im already ahpra registered. of course i should not aim for only 5 band score. what do you think? anyone? thanks
If your IELTS is valid at the time immigration reviews and approves your case then I guess you don't have to re-take it. The question is, how long before your Visa is approved? It could take 2 weeks or as long as a month.
hey minja... i have just sent my application to AHPRA, though it was in ACT... i just would like to know the time frame when you received the 1st, 2nd and 3rd emails.. Like when or how many weeks after you lodges your applications did they start the preliminary assessment... I have just talked with an ACT-AHPRA operator and they assured me they have received my documents but couldn't give me a timeframe on when the assessment will take place since they had a backlog of applications... I hope you can enlighten me more regarding the waiting period since I know its quite different from those who lodged last year with the increasing number of applications and stuff.. I hope i did the right decision sending my application to ACT... God bless!:)
hey mai.. they sent me the 1st email on the 5th of April, 2nd on the 8th and 3rd on the 2nd of May.
i assume that you formally sent a reply to them that you do not an employment offer yet.. so that they will know and go on to the next step of the process of your application..
hey cioman.. Nice to see you still lurking around this site. we have "met" before in the 1st thread of the same title. at that time, I was trying to do the Challenge Test in Queensland but was not able to push through due to financial changes. Anyway, I am right back on track.
I have not yet sent a reply to them as I do not have a job offer yet. But okey, now that you suggest, i will be doing it.. thanks for the advice.

Wow.. Victoria is pretty good with notifying their applicants about their status. ACT is quite different. They never gave me a receipt that they have received my documents. I had to call their office to confirm about it. I haven't heard from them about preliminary assessment too. I once read that NSW and VIC have more people assessing the applications, I guess its true.hehe I hope I hear from ACT-AHPRA soon....
Thanks for your response minja... God bless on our application!!:)
hi guys!
i've been planning to avail of the services of a certain consultancy...as of the present i've already passed my application to AHPRA, it's been 2months now.
the consultancy is asking for 20,000AUD for all the expenses including: AHPRA application(will not be paying anymore since i did it on my own already), health insurance, visa app, bridging course fee, accommodation + food for 13 weeks, plane ticket...do you think this is a reasonable amount for them to ask?
can anybody at least give me a breakdown of expenses from applying to AHPRA until completion of the BP course?thanx so much!can really use some suggestions/info since i'm really confused...

1) ALWAYS, never a reasonable amount when you go through an agent/consultant..
2) but always a good thing though if you are really rich..
3) big advantage though is that they will take care of everything (especially that accommodation thing, that's a bit hard to do i think so, but others may correct me if im wrong, i hope im wrong)..
4) but i would always agree if you go through an agency if you do not have money and the agency will provide financing, then in that case, going through an agency is a big yes.. just check the details of the contract you will sign..
my budget for my sister whom i am saving for is @ $15,000......
okey..

just because you do not have a job offer does not mean you will be disapproved, it is just an inquiry, it's not a policy...
pray, i always say, pray, it helps... im still here because im just paying things forward, because im a very lucky and blessed Aus. RN, and im shrewd in my own way...
cheers!

1) as an RN, whenever wherever you need 7 in each band in ielts (forget about that 5 ek ek ek written in website)..
2) i was in the same situation as you are..
3) i rather cover all the bases.. i took again IELTS to avoid any complications (if in case there is one, as per the issue that you raised).. in that way, i can sleep well at night..
4) taking your iELTS while in the Phils. is not a waste... believe me... you still need a "current" ielts in the very near future when you come here.. so while you are there, take the opportunity to get it.. you know what?, on my annual vacation leave, i will take my IELTS there in the Phils...
5) you will be working, just for the last time, spend and take effort to retake the ielts... you will never regret it.. and you will remember me if you will not retake it...
cheers!
