New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
I noticed you have more than a year of experience in radiology. There are tons of jobs for nurses in imaging here... you might want to apply in that field considering your experience... Usually they require 2years experience for ER...

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
Here's my piece of good new to you... =) I am currently doing my clinicals here in Nhill, Victoria. It's a really small town 6 hours away from the city. I just wanted you to know that they accept nurses here without any form of experience. So if you do get pass AHPRA, and get into one of the BP schools (you probably will have better chances if you are in AU and you give your application personally), and you are willing to work in the rural areas, then you have a good chance of getting employed. A lot of hospitals in smaller towns accept nurses without experience because they don't have a lot of applicants and they do need nurses to work for them... =) God bless!!!

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
I lodged my visa last september. It was a Business visa 456 and yes, they required me to submit a copy of my IELTS. I posted this some time ago in this forum and everyone said I was the first one to be asked to pass an IELTS result to the immigration. Apparently, the immigration and AHPRA have become stricter when in comes to their rules about having a valid IELTS. When the immigration officer called, I asked her if I could submit my expired IELTS as I was still waiting for my results (similar to your situation) but she said I need to wait for the result and pass it. And if Im not mistaken, valid results means a score of 7 in all of the exams. Hope this helps!

Hi blicka... I think its pretty normal for AHPRA Vic to have this sort of thing... I mean, with the increasing number of applicants, the assessment takes a lot longer.. The reason they did not contact you earlier could be because they haven't assessed your application yet... Atleast, this was cleared now...:) Anyways, if you need a copy of the sample CV.. I can send you one... I got it from a member here... you can PM me your email ad so I could forward it there...

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
Hello bobby... I don't mean to butt in your heated conversation with blicka... I just thought that you might also want to show her some respect... She was only sharing her experience and expressing her frustrations.. and I believe everyone has the right to do that... Im sure she did not intend to be disrespectful to AHPRA... Another thing, you are right about reading this thread from the very beginning and if you did read it, you would be aware that there are a lot of forumers here asking for a sample CV to serve as reference.. and instead of judging these forumers for being lazy and dependent, the members here actually gave them samples.. I myself had received a copy from someone here... and i thought it was very useful... I didn't copy it word for word but I got a clearer idea on what I should put in my CV... With this, I hope you do understand that this forum is created to help struggling nurses in their application... and any help will be greatly appreciated... all other demeaning and useless information are unsolicited... God bless!

Yes they do accept volunteer work experience... I think someone here posted that AU understands that its hard for Filipino nurses to get stable jobs in Phil... So no worries about that... God bless on your IELTS!! Keep practicing your writing... If this helps, I got 6.5 in my writing the first time I took IELTS 4 years ago, I focused on this area when I took my IELTS again 2years after and got 7.5, just last month I took IELTS for the third time since the previous one expired again, and I got 8!! So just keep on practicing and Im sure you can do it!!!

New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2
I'm not sure how to answer this... but as far as I know, my friends have been working as a PCAs for more than a year now while on a student visa... They were never able to change their visa to working.. Both of them applied for BP, the other one have finished her course last july and will be starting her job as a nurse next week on an employer-sponsored working visa. My other friend will be with me in the ETEA intake this Oct.. Basing on their situation, I guess the answer is NO, he can't be given working visa as PCAs. It would be better if he'll apply immediately as a nurse and take the BP rather than doing it the long way... Hope this helps...

I just wanted to ask... Why did u take an 18week course which cost 13,800 instead of a 10-12week course( the usual duration in most of BP schools) and at a cheaper price??

I guess it depends on the case officer... Or maybe it really is a new requirement for all nurses applying for a 456 visa...

i thought you guys might want to know this... during my application for 456 visa, I did not include my IELTS result among the documents that I sent, thinking that this was fine.. a day after they confirmed that they got my documents, I received a call from my case officer, telling me to submit my IELTS result. I asked them if I can just send them a copy of my expired IELTS since I haven't received my recent IELTS result yet. The case officer asked me to wait as she tried to confirm this with a higher authority.. After a few minutes, I was told to wait for my current IELTS, and submit it as soon as I get it. They will not accept my expired IELTS... This caused some delay in my processing, but Praise God I got my visa already... My point here is, I believe that IELTS is really necessary when applying for anything in Australia... AHPRA requires this, the schools require this and the Australian embassy requires this... You may get away without the IELTS during your application in AHPRA and other BP schools, but u still need to consider your visa application... So its really better if you try to pass the required minimum score for the IELTS...

Yes, i think they require IELTS.. but i do have friends who studied aged care in australia and they just submitted a certificate from the school that the curriculum was taught in english and they got accepted.. We'll be classmates this october..... You can try doing that if u want... but i really suggest you take and pass the IELTS requirements..
