New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

In Australia whenever you get credit from one degree to another, you always must show the registration people whether it is the teachers board or nurses board or the engineers board what you did in the first degree from that university that originally gave the pass in those subjects even if they are not related subjects to the final degree that has given professional qualification.

They never just take the university that gave the credits, word for it. They want to check those subjects out.

So if you are a second courser I would be getting hold of the previous university and getting all the required info from them, even if they are not nursing subjects, they have been credited in a nursing degree and therefore need to be assessed by AHPRA as well.

This happened to me in both nursing board and teaching board. Where I was given credit by doing a previous arts course at a uni....all transcripts and subject descriptions were required by these boards even though my universities for nursing and teaching had given the credit.

Of course if you can argue otherwise and they do accept that, thats great, but I would not hope that would always happen.

hi guys! i need some enlightenment with the australian nurses training program. some said that it is a pathway to australia RN registraion as well... is this a good path for pinoy nurses to take?

I totally agree with you. But not harm in reasoning out with ahpra about their requirements for my previous course. I was concerned that it might take time again to submit the documents from my previous course which would entail another delay with the assessment by ahpra. The more documents you submit to them, the more questions they might ask. In my case, my registration officer and her superiors considered my appeal that they forgo the required documents from my previous course. Good for me. But all the same, I was still able to secure the required documents from my previous course. But I will not give it to them until the time that they will really ask. Anyway, I will be bringing all these documents with me come the time I will be leaving for Australia. I might have need of them someday. ;)

I hope then, that you do receive a favourable outcome, they may have already decided, but were requesting a bit more information. I would not deny them any information, especially now you are saying you were able to procure it, just in case that bit more information would help my application if their decision was touch and go to be favourable. good luck

are your referring to that ARNTP in South Australia?? prior AHPRA, i will confirm it is a legitimate pathway.. during AHPRA, all i can say is that their website said you can apply for registration after finishing the program.. no members here yet who during AHPRA, had finished said program (but there were a number of members who finished it before AHPRA).. therefore i cannot say "confirm" now.. personally, i am very uncomfortable about it.. research more by talking to them, ARNTP officers/staff..

I think there is also a similar ARNTP being promoted by IDP Philippines right now. It is being offered by a school from Perth Australia. It is a 1 year program though and they have the same requirements as the other schools who offer the 3 month bridging program ( like the IELTS and 1 YEAR WORK EXPERIENCE as RN here in the Philippines). Why would I take this route when there is a much shorter and obviously a much cheaper option? :lol2::lol2:

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering if there's anyone here who is an NCLEX passer in Saipan BON? How did you get an NCLEX validation from there? I can't seem to find any downloadable form from their website. Or will license verification suffice? I tried checking out nursys.com where Saipan's verification is now being acquired but it appears that it applies to endorsing the license from one US state to another. I appreciate any reply on this matter.

Thank you.

sorry, can't pm yet. I signed with medlinkages/accord personnel, but their partner agency in the philippines is scs inc. if you see nurses for australia in workabroad, it's probably them. check them out, see if you like their pitch. i'm backing out though, nursing in australia is an investment, at the moment, my current situation just plunged that i need to work again. maybe in the future, when my situations not so rocky. :)

all 8 in ielts starting on july 2011? i read about it for DIAC not for AHPRA. ALL 8 for full 20 points in the english proficiency, if 7; 10 points.

i don't know about BON in saipan. Sorry. I took my NCLEX in saipan, they were a territory of the US but not part of the "states" way back 2007. Maybe things changed?

They were talking about merging with the federal states when i was there.

hello. im new in this forum, can i ask how i can post new thread here? I have questions regarding filling up AGOS 4 form. thank you. :)

Hi, I'm not sure if this will help. But I am also an nclex passer in MD, USA. Yes, nursys.com is for license verification endorsement within USA. Since we need it sent to AHPRA, I was advised by MD BON to send in a written request including AHPRA's address with $25 money order or check. Try calling Saipan MBON and ask about how you can have your license verification sent to Australia. :)

there you go. can i ask some help from those who have successfully filled up the AGOS 4 form? I am almost complete with the reqs for BP. However, I'm having difficulty answering some of the items in AGOS 4 form. can someone help me with these items please. thank you. here:

1) page 2 no.6 says: Is your residential address the same as your principal place of practice/employment in australia?

yes: go to the next question

no: provide your principal place of practice/employment address below.

what if i am not employed, what add should i write or i can put N/A for not applicable instead?

2) for Qualification for the profession. does it refer to BSN degree only? or should i place IELTS too?

3) page 4 no.12. what do they mean by 'category of registration'? profession is of course nurse. i asked PRC about category of registration but unfortunately i didnt get any sure answer.

4) who among you included curiculum vitae in their AGOS 4?

5) page 5 no.17. question goes 'do you commit to only practise the profession if you have appropriate professional indemnity insurance arrangements in place?

yes

no/NA (what option should we tick?)

thank you very much. will wait for anybody's response. :)

Verification of License, Certificate of Good Standing, Verification of Registration, Verification of License/Registration Status are basically the same bananas as far as AHPRA's requirement is concern.. Various BON of different countries are expected to have or be able to provide this type of document (otherwise they should be categorized as 4th world country, much lower than 3rd world countries).. Saipan BON? they MUST MUST MUST have this type of document, otherwise, they should close their office...
