New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

Who may take the conversion program:

Local students: bargain of a lifetime

Financially capable graduates with no or little experience

Well known fact: He who has the money has the opportunity

Think of two fresh graduate nurse. One is a graduate of a quality nursing school, another from a "mushroom school". The second nurse was assessed as EN in aus but being financially capable took the conversion route and spent 2 million pesos. The first needed to go to the trouble of falling in line, volunteering, applying overseas, and gaining experience. After 2 years, the second nurse is already well settled in aus and has earned back every cent he has invested in aus. The first nurse despite being assessed as RN eligible is still struggling to get finances and falling in line in the very long bridging program.

The person with money always gets the edge in everything. That's how our capitalist world goes.

Nursing for greener pasture? I don't think so. From past to present, nursing is for people with money.

Conversion difficulty: 3 out of 10. It's very easy as long as you understand English. and we Filipinos have no trouble with that

In where I am, there are more than 50 of us taking conversion. 11 Filipinos. Lucky 11.

Aus being a great place to live and work in is a case by case basis.

But shell out some moolah first.

Good luck

Hey Joiemike! Thanks for bothering to reply. I'm so happy to hear straight from one person who actually knew a lot about BP stuff. :) I know I may somehow sounded dumb abt that, just I really want it verified from people here because someone put me down last time, telling me I need to have a recent work experience to qualify. I wonder why there are people like her that exist? She's actually there in NSW now as an enrolled nurse via BP.

Anyway, I really appreciate your time for answering. At least now, I can start working on the papers while preparing for IELTS. God Bless me.

I'll keep on logging back in here to read on this forum to be more aware of helpful tips. Again, thank you so much!

You shouldn't take anybody's "opinion" whether in this forum or an acquaintance as the BIBLE truth. I'm not saying that I didn't tell you the truth about your work experience. It is your obligation to verify the opinion with what is the truth. And the truth can be found in the ahpra website. You go to the nursing and midwifery board and click on their REGISTRATION STANDARDS. All your questions will be answered there. It is your career that is on the line here. ;)

does anyone of you know the email address of AHPRA?

i want to request for an extension to their requested documentation from me.

thanks

Hi! I am lodging my application with APHRA soon. However, I need help with deciding which office to lodge my application. From their website, I know that they have an office in each state. Can anyone give any input as to which office gives a quicker response. I understand that some offices become overloaded with applications.

hello marcian being, being from mars.. no one really knows nowadays, the last time i checked, NT applications were forwarded to NSW,.. some said, SA has few office staff versus VIC and NSW..

1) back then, i thought our crab mentality will not be practiced in oz, i was wrong.. that nasty practice that we had is still being observed by a number of fil. rns here.. i even experienced it here with one of fil. rns.. if you ask me, by the time i move to another city/place, i do not have enthusiasm of meeting fils. esp. fil. rns.. it is not

worth it..

2) the reason that person gave you that advice is because of jealousy.. remember she is studying for EN, while you just like the rest of us here, will be gunning for RN license.. she should be jealous, you will be spending almost

same money but you will be supervising her at work because you will be RN while she is EN, and if she wants to

become RN she has to spend money and time again.. thatz classic jealousy and crab mentality..

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh! and we think we are great..

Hi I just want to ask how will I get a proof of immunization? I do not have my baby book with me. For those who already submitted this, how did you accomplish it? Thank you.

happy nurses´ day for all us !!!

may god allow us all to celebrate this date in australia next year!!!:redpinkhe

sorry, can't pm yet. I signed with medlinkages/accord personnel, but their partner agency in the philippines is scs inc. if you see nurses for australia in workabroad, it's probably them. check them out, see if you like their pitch. i'm backing out though, nursing in australia is an investment, at the moment, my current situation just plunged that i need to work again. maybe in the future, when my situations not so rocky. :)

all 8 in ielts starting on july 2011? i read about it for DIAC not for AHPRA. ALL 8 for full 20 points in the english proficiency, if 7; 10 points.

i don't know about BON in saipan. Sorry. I took my NCLEX in saipan, they were a territory of the US but not part of the "states" way back 2007. Maybe things changed?

They were talking about merging with the federal states when i was there.

Yup, I also inquired in SCS Placement but I didn't get a chance yet to talking to them personally since I am residing far from manila. What services are they offering? Did you find it satisfactory? and how much is the placement fee?TIA!

Hi isingrin,

I'm hoping to catch the June 20 intake of vchn since I have a pre-approved slot already since Feb. ;)

Hi joiemike! how were u able to secure a slot in VCHN? are u with an agency?tnx!

Nope. Just applied on my own. They accept applications for enrollment to their BP. Just tell them that you have already applied for registration with ahpra. They will give you a conditional offer of place pending your final approval from ahpra. Their prerequisites are your IELTS and at least 1 year work experience in any acute hospital setting.;)

okay...when u applied to vchn was there an application fee required? i have 2yrs and 6 months hosp experience but i was only assigned in the general ward. would that suffice or are they very particular that your experience must be in an acute hospital setting?
