New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

A response from AHPRA

Dear Paolo,

Thank you for contacting AHPRA.

You do not need to have current employment in Australia to apply for registration.

Joiemike is right.. therefore just say that you do not have an existing offer of employment... it is not a basis for disapproval of application, perhaps could be a basis for AHPRA's system of prioritization, nonetheless, nothing you can do about it, just answer yes or no, the truth..

i mean student visa holders are allowed to work for 20 hours per week not $20 per hour. thank you so much for you input. :)

ceridwyn said something about $20 per hour for PCA.. read it again and believe it..

Hello everyone.. Can i work as PCA even if i dont have a certificate in aged care.. I will be going to australia under student visa.. I will be studying bachelor of nursing at deakin.. I'm a registeres nurse here in the Philippines.. Thanks..

yes you can, it just boils down to the decision of the nursing home to hire you or not..

will be applying with an agency, they will be supporting during the bridging course as they have a partner agency there, accommodation and everything, they also will be helping with hospital placements after the bridging course... i think it's a good deal.

what do you think?

1) i assume "supporting" means they will initially pay for the expenses of your BP, accommodation etc. (which you will pay later on).. if this is so, then good.. just make sure you know how much you will be paying monthly later on and how much will be your take-home pay.. you must know how much your take-home pay.. i repeat you should have an idea about your take-home pay..

2) they will "help" with hospital "placements" after BP... good great.. directly speaking, they will help you in finding a job..

Bless you loads _ cioman94_

No worries about the email add; about sending PM, this is crazy but I don't know how to send pm here :D it would be great if let me know how. Thanks in advance

Anyway, may I ask is payment for BP is through credit card also?

You mentioned earlier that I shouldn't limit my choice to Melbourne as they only chose applicant after successful telephone interview. So is it best to send application to various Colleges who offers BP? (mm... more more money...:D)

I'd also like to know if "On Arrival" Reception Service that cost $90 is practical?

and going for a short stay visa do you have to settle a health insurance while at Oz?

@nurseonduty17- VCHN is offering BP earliest possible starts on 20th of June 2011

BP payment, not in credit card.. cash payment via bank transaction...

the question really is, are you 100% sure that melbourne school will accept you? if you are 100% sure, then do not apply anymore to other schools.. that's just my point..

"reception service", consist of what?? just tranpo fare from airport to school? with coffee or juice?? ...check the cost of transpo from airport to school, then decide.. $90 is a bit much.. when i arrived in sydney, i just spent $10 transpo from airport to the hotel i stayed in.. research things up..

hi mhai, i'm a newbie hir, i am just wondering if you could also send me a copy of the letter of explanation that zdane sent you regarding the proof of identity. thanks.:)

Hello aveno... zdane didn't really send me a copy... she just told me to explain to them regarding your situation that you don't currently hold an australian visa.. I really would like to send you a copy but i haven't made one yet... Im planning to send my application this week... if i could find the time.. then il send you my copy... =)

by the way, welcome to the forum...:yeah:

Guys I didn't bother replying or sending back an email to AHPRA about their email asking if I have an employer already because honestly I don't have. So I just leave that as is.:)

Btw, those who got their eligibility letters or those who have been contacted by their case manager already, what stage of the assessment will they contact you? In how many months do you think? I think most here got their eligibility letter more or less after 7 months I guess.
