Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.
Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency AHPRA
Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses
I was looking at the employer of nurses who went to australia, done their bp. There are some who wrote the name of a recruitment agency in southern australia. Anyway, I'm wondering if these people are "on-call"? If there is such a thing as on-call. I can't ask them directly cause I am just a friend of a friend. I know they are working at an aged care facility, I was just wondering why don't they put the name of the place rather than the recruitment agency.
hi everyone,

i was really baffled by this letter and frustrated at the same time for ahpra's being so stickler and bookish with their guidelines.
i responded to her email with this letter :
dear xxxxxx,
this is concerning your letter dated 5 may 2011.
in relation to my submitted course outline, i would like to explain that the syllabus of the nursing subjects i submitted were all photocopies. the college released photocopies only of the nursing subject syllabus. what the dean did was to certify each page before releasing them to me. these were all dated dec. 3, 2010. of course, what i did as instructed in the ahpra website was to photocopy all of them and have all the pages certified by a notary public/lawyer at the back of each page. therefore, the front portion has a notation already from our dean which says "certified true copy of the original" . but this does not mean that the documents were certified twice. if i can beg for your indulgence, my full name and date of admission as well as my date of graduation are all printed in the transcript of records as well as all the supporting certifications.
i can submit a certification certifying that the syllabus i submitted were all taken by me in relation to my degree in bachelor of science in nursing. i have attached the samples for your perusal.
as for my transcript and certificate from xxxxxxxxxx university, i would like to respectfully pray for your consideration. for me to get the required additional documents from my previous school will take so much time and money. i am living in xxxx city which is an island far south from manila. i have to take an hour's plane ride in going there. and my previous first course was bachelor of arts in xxxxxxxxxxxxxx which is totally unrelated to nursing. some subjects i took from xxxxxx were credited to my nursing course because these were just minor subjects like history, mathematics, general sciences, physical education, among others. there is a certification attached on the second page of my transcript of records to this effect. my transcript of records from xxxxx are attached to my transcript of records in the xxxxxx college of nursing as pages 6 and 7.
i would like to respectfully pray for your kind consideration. my niece xxxxxxxxxxxx who is my third party agent will be seeing you to personally plead my case and clarify things further.
sincerely yours,
xxxxxxx
i prayed so hard last night that god will enlighten and soften the hearts of the ahpra officers. i did not get a good sleep last night because so many scenarios were bothering me. although i did not doubt for a moment that i will get the ahpra letter, i cannot imagine the additional cost and hassle on getting all these documents again.
this morning, i got this email from my registration officer :
dear xxxxxx
your application was reviewed with the team leader today and the outcome is that we are accepting your submitted course outline and also you are not required to submit your transcript from xxxxxxxxx university. your documents are now in order and i will contact you again shortly.

god is really wonderful. he really answers prayers. as the bible says "the prayers of a righteous man avails much". "call unto me and i will answer you and show you great and wonderful things which you don't know".
it's going to be 5 months next week since i sent my application. for those who still are going to submit their application, make sure to strictly follow ahpra's guidelines to avoid unnecessary delays.
i hope my experience will help those who need them.
It is confirmed! IELTS requirement are going to increase to 8.0 in each subtest in July 2011!! Nightmare!! 7.0 is already difficult to achieve, what more an 8.0!! Are they crazy? I advice all of you to submit your application before July so that your IELTS results will still be covered by the previous rules!

Where's the link? Is that concerning AHPRA or the immigration requirement? Because obviously these are 2 different things. Let's think twice before posting incomplete information that may only sow confusion.

I agree with you. 7 is still the passing score for IELTS based in the ahpra website.

hi joiemike, we're actually on the same page but what i submitted was the subject description instead of the course syllabus. and apparently, they also asked for my certificate of registration from us as i am also an nclex passer. i'm hoping they'd accept the subject description that i've sent. if i had known that the subject syllabus would work, i should've done the same way you did it. anyway, i haven't received an email from them yet and my certificate of registration from us is still on it's way. it's been a month now since they asked me for the requirements. i was hoping to get into ub, as la trobe's bp will start this month. how bout you?
Hi isingrin,I'm hoping to catch the June 20 intake of vchn since I have a pre-approved slot already since Feb.
@to joiemike, thanks so much for sharing the information about that emails you got..
@to others: take note of the "warning/deadline" that joiemike email got, and remember that query they ask you "whether you had a ready employer or not yet", and be safe, i gave my thoughts what to do with that query, and think that it may have a deadline that you have to reply as some of you have no plans yet of replying ahpra about that query email..
@to others: many times, i write as a closing remark that "pray, it helps".. it is not a closing remark, it is a serious advice that you must pray ( i dont care about your religion, me im not a christian nor a muslim), but mate, i mean it that you gotta pray, things are getting tougher.. no kidding.. your money and future are at stake here..
@ielts 8.... ive seen a lot of weird crazy policies procedures that ahpra had done.. if it is true that 8 is required, then mate, whoever sets that policy needs psychiatric assessment asap.. while it is possible, i have big doubts that 8 will be a requirement either ahpra or diac..

- i will not use the word "recruitment ageny".. i will use "nursing agency".. i will also not discuss "on-call" whatever and whoever will define.. the straightforward facts i will state below..
- i reckon those RNs were hired by the nursing agency.. therefore they are employees of the nursing agency, they are not employees of any hospital or aged care facility.. if you are a lawyer in a law office, and you were "hired" by a client for his case, then who is your employer? answer: the law office... client is just a customer, not your "employer"..
- in the nursing agency, RNs have varied work schedule and workplace.. one thing for sure is that RNs with 457 visa must work at least 76 hours fortnight..

> ok thank you again cioman94 for enlightening me on the said matter. At least, if Godwilling, I can do my bp there, I know my options. :)

@hot_rod: can't send pm yet...lacking number of posts...i sent my application last week of March. Got confirmation that they've received it last April 8. Then I got the email asking me about an employer, which I don't have. I haven't replied yet to AHPRA about it. May 3 I got another email informing me that they already have all of the documents that I've sent (IELTS, TOR, COGS...)...
