New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand Part 2

Published

Due to recent changes regarding applications for International nurses to Australia and the combining of the nursing boards to one central nursing board in Australia AHPRA I have started a new thread for people to discuss the new process on working in Australia.

Currently New Zealand is not accepting new applicants from International trained nurses except those that meet the Trans Tasman Mutual Recognition Agreement {TTMR} this will be updated once the New Zealand nursing board reopen their books to International nurses.

Part 1 thread New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand - Nursing for Nurses

hi there!

firstly, i would like to thank the contributors of this thread. i sent my application to AHPRA last week and i found this thread very very helpful when i was completing the required documents. :)

i am aware that it would take months to process my application for eligibility. but i just want to be one step ahead in the preparation. :) God-willing, i also plan to go to CoN. :) to those planning to enroll in CoN, may i ask what vaccinations they require? also, if i enter Australia using the 676 visa, will i be allowed to work part-time?

thanks in advance for your replies! :)

hi ceridwen and miks!

Does college of nursing require experience? if so, how many months, years?

thanks and all the best :)

Guys (special mention to cioman94:D), what type of short-stay visa you think I should apply for? 476 or 676? what's the difference actually? any ideas? I know I've read before some discussions and opinions about it being "basically" the same thing but I really can't decide which among the 2...

Also, do you think that a short-stay visa will affect my current pending immigration visa (since we also have a family migration visa in process under visa subclass 176. any ideas? TIA :)

i think your question was answered already.. nway, per my understanding, both visas do not allow you to work, and perhaps the 676 visa may require you to present higher amount of show money because it can be granted for

more than 6 months (im not sure, just perhaps).. moreover, 676 will be advantageous to you after BP because you would be allowed to stay in aus for more than 3 months thus giving you time to job search (assumption is you have the budget to stay in aus longer).. good luck..

i can't answer your queries regarding visa matters but in my case i already have 676 but i will try to get 456 as well. i'm uncertain if 676 visa and 456 will let you stay for six months straight. if yes then that's more time to find work. i can't get the student visa since they are not cricos registered. i'll try if IDP can help me with how to get the visa and pay tuition fee. i'm having problems with my vaccines, can you help me?

anyone help me clarify this discussion, in case i didnt get it right..

456 visa will only allow you 3 months stay, you have to apply for extension then..

676 (per my understanding) will allow you more than 3 months (depending what will be granted to you by DIAC) which will give you time after BP to process registration and find work while staying in Aus..

i don't see any problems in complying vaccines/immunizations, unless you do not have money to spend for it or if you have active TB infection then you have a problem, otherwise, what's your concern about it??

QC:) im still waiting for my visa, just like you. Estimated waiting time accdg to my counselor is 4 weeks so probably end of Feb, hopefully:) Do you have a place to stay in SA already? Im actually looking for companions, I don't have relatives there. If all's well, I am considering the university's accommodation. How about you?

anyone going to The College of Nursing for the April batch? please help me prepare in studying ahead of time. what are the core topics I need to review?

if you have books on nursing in australia, then of course read it, but i guess you dont have which is normal, unless you can borrow books from those who were able study/enrol in CAS in Queensland (before ahpra) then you can use it...

if you do not have any aussie books, the best that you can do, is study/review your med-surge, or use your reviewer book like balita, bersabe to study/review, master the drug calculations, review the clinical procedures (catheterization, etc.), common drugs, nursing care plans, case study presentations... why? in this way, when you have studied said subjects then you are already prepared on it, thus, when you arrive and start the BP, all you have to study and cope up with are the "Australian nursing subjects" like Aus. healthcare system, laws, ACFI, scope of practice/delegation...

hello everyone. i am a newbie here. im glad to have this thread as a guide for my dreams in applying for aus. i already downloaded the application form--agos 4 that is(im right, right..? hehe) and im looking forward to secure the different docus necessary from it.

hey forumers, can i ask for some help? regarding question number 6. i couldnt quite grasp what they are really asking from me. i mean, technically my residential address is not the same as my principal place of employment in asutralia. which means if i answer NO, i should provide the address of the hospital where i work here in the Philippines?

also, in question number 16, are they asking for my diploma and transcript of records from high school aside from the transcript from my college?

and how much will the application cost me?

please help me enlighten with this. thank you so much in advance for your help and guidance! :)

no. 4........ answer NO, provide your hospital's address in phils..

no. 16..... high school diploma (sorry, is there a TOR in high school?, i thought it's only in college), and request for a certification from your high school that english was the primary medium of instruction..

please repost your questions so that others will be able to give you much more definite answers than what ive given above.. good luck tukayo..

they didn't ask me about my experience. their main concern is the AHPRA referral letter
