New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi rnrn07,

I am new in this site. Actually, I was trying to contact meow meow, but i do not know how. I applied with ANSM last April and right now, I am done with all my exams and modules. I also do not have work experience. As of now, I am awaiting my booking for the 160 hours training and my visa . After which, ANSM will assist me into being registered as a nurse in Australia. I just wish that 2 friends who are also in the same stage, will be assigned in the same area.

ANSM have been very helpful from the start and they assisted me from the documentation to application to exams and assignments. Who would have believed that it will take me less than a year and start earning P200k? I am sooo happy.

Btw, paging MEOW MEOW. We do not pay the consultancy AUD$1000 because we do not have experience. If we have experience , the hospital will sponsor the amount for the working visa , if not we have to pay for it . buhu.

I hope I was able to help.

This is not permissible under the Australian law. You don't have to pay the 1000 dollars for your petition under the DIAC. You can actually report this employer to the Immigration. IF you are to be sponsored, they should pay for that and reimburse your airfare including I think 2 months relocation until you finally have to get a home of your own.

Hi! sad to hear about your papers..

btw may I ask if it took more than a month for them to assess your papers? from the time you submitted all your papers to the time it was returned to you, how long did it take?

with regards to notarization, i read in the past threads that you have to follow exactly what the required format for notarization the QNC adviced..

Certified Copies

Each copied page of an original document mus bear a statement certifying that it is a true copy of the original. This certification must be in english.

Individual who can certify must be one of the following:

Justice of Peace

Commissioner for Declarations

Notary Public or solicitor

When certifying a document, they should include:

Date of certification

Name of individual certifying the document

signature

contact address

phone number

I hope that helps..:paw:

hello! thank you for the reply. QNC received my application Sept. 24, 2008...the assessment process is more than 2 months, it is almost 3 months!

i have to go, i will go to the notary public that notarized my documents so that i can send the correct notarized document today. good luck to us :wink2:

Hi Kit25

1) I did my Professional module in a month's time.

2) my hospital experience was just a few months so it's not counted

3) re the 160 hours, I believe it would be in a hospital. The important thing is that I get my license as a nurse in Australia after this.

4) competency assessment was done in 2 1/2 months

5) i got my module materials in 2 weeks time, because ANSM delivered it to me instead of waiting for it via mail.

You seem to know about the process. Are you applying also?

I just had my exam last Wednesday. I think I'm going to fail in thr three areas except for the clinical part. I'm not so sure. How long will I have to wait for the result?

It took you so long to do the module? Someone from the forum informed us that he/she finish the 4 modules in 1 and a half month. I did the process on my own. I still have a lot of questions. I know you don't have PM privilges yet, can you email me? thank you.

Kit I think the person who posted before regarding 1 1/2 months time to finish all 4 modules was because that person took all of the modules at the same time. By doing this, you'll be able to finish everything in a much shorter duration rather than doing it one after the other.

In grape's case, she just needed to complete one module and it only took her 1 month. That's still faster since the recommended time frame is 12 weeks.

Hi I have a question. When doing the challenge test first you do part a right then after passing that, you have to do part b 3 months after part a. What if like you failed in some modules in part A. Say for example failed 2 modules. do you have to finish those modules you failed in 3 months time? do you still have to follow the rule of taking part b in 3 months time after taking part a?

Hello!

I really need your help guys esp. those who got an approval from Queensland Nursing Council. QNC returned my application and the attached documents because according to the council the notary public did not notarized properly my documents as certified true copy. May I ask did your notary public notarized your documents? Can you please share with me how did the notary public stated that the document is a certified true copy.

hi lecna can you tell us how the notary public notarized your paper so we would know what's wrong and then we can identify it if they do the same to our documents. thanks

hi grape, can you tell us what are the parts of the exam? i mean the topics of each part, if you can, please thanks a bunch...

hi grape,

i sent you a PM:D:D

HI Punjabi and Dolcevitarn,

I am sorry, I do not know how to reply to you via Private Message. Plus, I don't think I can .

Punjabi,

I asked the assistance of ANSM just to make sure I am doing the right thing. With them, I am sure that the documents and application I submitted will be the right ones. With them, I was able to get all the materials I need to pass majority if not all the exams. I only need to take the modules for those I fail.

My friend applied by himself and the difference is not much. What I paid for includes plane fare, place to stay and food for a month. They will also help me process my visa including giving me a letter of support for my stay in Australia. With this one, I would not need to provide a big amount of show money for immigration.

Good luck to you.

Dolcevitarn,

The study materials they gave us is enough. Did you receive the information about the new library? Lucky you because this one has more than what they gave us before. With the ones we had, I passed 2. With more materials, I am sure you will pass more.

Good luck.

Grape

Dear rlssem,

The exam has 4 categories. Professional, Cultural, Legal and Clinical.

We need to pass 80% per category. Hope this helps.
